I've used a liquid protein filler for many years which I mix into my toner with developer after I've already done my roots. When I bring all the hair coloring down, then process as usual. Suddenly Nobody(even Amazon) has it in time for my much needed coloring but I had some of this on hand(I sometimes mix it into my deep conditioners). WTH, I've Got to touch up so I mixed it into my toner with the 20 volume at the get go, not just at the bring down time. Here's the first amazing part...after rinsing hair but prior to putting on my conditioner for after coloring (Ion product) I notice that my hair feels totally natural after I rinsed out my shampoo! There's always that slightly crunch feel until I condition and my hair is Not damaged or fried. My hair before putting in the conditioner felt just like it does when I rinse out any other shampooing time. Then I towel dry a bit Then condition and leave on ten minutes, rinse. I'm now going to use this stuff from here out! So the recipe? I mix 2 bottles of 1 1/4 oz toners (longish hair) with 6 oz 20 volume (cream style) developer (peroxide to us older gals) which gave me a total of 8 oz of liquid. I mixed into that 11g of these little balls of protein which dissolved instantly. Painted my roots, waited 20 min then put the remainder of my goop all over, processed 17 minutes and you know the rest. Perfect even coloring and like they said my hair has gorgeous shine and texture. My natural hair is blonde and though abundant, fine textured. I color mostly my crown which in the front is light silver but for some reason is darker from my ears on than it ever was before going grey. Totally even coloring job a total success!. BTW, if you don't have a scale (I'm a retired chef so...) then I'd say by looking at how much 11 grams looked like that it was 2 tablespoons. This worked beautifully :)
