Buy these to keep cats out of the puzzle pieces!

I loveeeee these Tidyboss puzzle trays! I bought one set and loved them so I just bought a second set. They stack awesome! I have cats that like to mess with my puzzle pieces so these are easy to stack and put away when I need a break. They are very durable They are smooth and a good weight. I bought a different brand small ones and honestly they were not good at all my cats could just pop open the lid and get the pieces. The Tidy Boss sets they can’t get into and they are heavy enough that my cats can’t knock them off the table. I HIGHLY recommend these!

Best discovery ever!

Oh, my goodness! I’ve had these trays for several years, and fall in love with them all over again each time I use them. Not only are they useful for sorting colors, but the trays are conveniently stackable as a space saver when not in use. I cannot imagine working a puzzle without them.

Where has this been all my life?! Best ever!

I love this. It keeps the puzzle pieces neat and tidy, and because each piece fits together keeps them safe as well. The lid is a definite bonus. I am pleased.

To hold Kuretake Tambi Gansai watercolors

These are great to hold the Tambi and Sumikundo watercolor pans. As soon as I get the new Granulated II and other Sumikundo in, I'm going to double-side tape them in the tray and not have to worry about them moving around or being set wherever in my studio.

Hair & Dust Magnet

Shortly after receiving this item I knew I had made a mistake. This came to light when, after laying out several trays to begin sorting pieces, I learned that they very easily get a static charge. I had some trays on completed sections of the puzzle I was assembling and others on top of loose pieces. After filling one tray, when I lifted it up, several puzzle pieces had stuck to the bottom and then went flying when I moved the tray off to the side. At first I didn't realize what had happened and thought the pieces came from inside the tray. However, when I lifted another tray that had been on a completed section, the puzzle lifted and then broke apart (curses to Educa puzzles that have the loosest fit and easily fall apart when lifted). Later I noticed dust and hair already accumulating in an empty tray (see photo). Now it may be possible that laundry static cling sheets could be used to wipe down the trays and eliminate the charge but I'll never know because static cling sheets or sprays are not available here in the Philippines.Another issue I have, petty as it may seem, is the embossed "tidyboss" name in the middle of each tray. Picture-side-up pieces will hit the embossed area and flip over as they slide over it. As I would move pieces around with my finger they would constantly be hitting the relief, either flipping over or having my finger slide off knocking other pieces over. It's a minor annoyance but enough of one that I'm considering filling that area with grout, spackle, or something. The last thing is the size of the trays. I know the listing shows the size (8" X 8") but it just seems they'd be more accommodating than they are. If you put in a single layer of pieces, a tray will hold about 60 pieces on average. This is far short of the 1500 pieces specified unless you do triple layers. Anything more than triple layer interferes with the stacking ability. I was considering getting the 10" X 10" set but for some reason it did not have the free shipping option like the smaller set. And believe me, shipping costs to the Philippines is not cheap.UPDATE: A day or two after my review was posted I received a message from the founder of tidyboss thanking me for my honest review and inquiring what could be done to address my issues. Unfortunately, with me living overseas there is not much that can be done. But it was at this point that got me thinking about my rating. This product has 85% of 5 star reviews which is quite high in the Amazon world. Throw in 4 star ratings and the product is at 95% above average. Several 1 & 2 star ratings were due to damage during shipping. Unless packaging is subpar and does nothing to protect a product, damage due to shipper/deliverer carelessness should not affect it's rating or should be rated separately, unfortunately not a feature offered by Amazon. So, maybe my 2 star rating was initially unfair. After all, I was a tad angry at puzzle pieces being flung about after being statically attached to the trays. And the embossing did not seem to bother others and is most likely due to my pickiness. As I said in the above, a petit issue. Definitely not one to drastically affect a rating.Fact is, I am still using the trays which means they are doing what they were designed to do; holding sorted puzzle pieces. So I have adjusted my rating to be more reflective of the product's purpose and with less bias from a grumpy old man. It also reflects the impressive support of the buyers of its products by the founder. Only one other company has been so positively responsive for a product I had issue with. One last note: several buyers complained that the trays could be difficult to get apart. This is true initially. But in the short time I've had mine the trays have loosened up to where I can easily separate them with one hand. Tip - do not try to separate trays at a corner because as it lifts and flexes the trays they will bind up in the adjacent corners and be hard to get apart. Instead, grab the lip of the top lid-less tray, in the middle of a side, with thumb and finger and use other fingers to push down on sides of tray(s) underneath. They will slide apart easily. Also, if you push down on the trays while stacked, you may drive out air in the trays which will create a vacuum. The more pieces in the trays the less air and therefore less vacuum. A good solution might be for the trays to have some small holes in the bottom to prevent lessen vacuum effect.

One of my most useful puzzle accessories!

These are so perfect for sorting out puzzle pieces and also for quickly and neatly storing away your pieces! I have the 8x8 and love them! I would have gotten the 10x10 size had I known how much I would love them and how useful they would be!
