iCarsoft Auto Diagnostic Scanner POR V2.0 for Porsche with ABS Scan,Oil Service Reset ect

Bought it to work on my cayenne 2020. Mainly to reset the oil light asked check for trouble codes.at first it didn't work right out of the box.So, i was about to pack it up and send it back to Amazon. But, before i did that, i thought about updating the software and trying to reset three oil light again. And, to my surprise, after i did the update the scanner worked perfectly.Oil light has been reset. All is good.Ps: They should tell you that when you buy the scanner... "Update before using"

No está mal, pero no es una maravilla. Bueno para un particular sin mucha sabiduría en los coches, pero malo para un usuario profesional. No recomiendo el vendedor de iCarsoft España, que además está en Francia, cualquier devolución la vais a tener que pagar hasta Francia para un peritaje y ellos decidan si te devuelven el dinero o no.

I have 2006 Porsche Cayman S with the Service Indicator flashing after I start my car. I had recently had it serviced and didn’t want to return to my mechanic to reset it. First out of the packing, I had to find a windows pc to download the software and updates then plug in the scanner. Simple. Afterwards, go to my car and plug in to car’s ODC port turn the ignition and follow the scanner. It’s not a touch screen. Use the toggle switch to the right. I was able to check for other faults. This scanner works just make sure to update the software first.

The unit functioned as described. The interface reminds of a 10 year old GPS and is just as slow. But then again so is the car port interface and the USB 1.0 connection that is used for the computer. The manual just as well was spartan and you have to plod through the menu screens to get things done. To be fair the unit worked adequately.The issue comes regarding the "upgrade". You install a piece of software on your computer which makes you enter your email and one of the ID's from the main screen. They simply could have sent you the upgrade files to write to the SD card but I suppose they do not want to give you files so that the device can be used on a car line model that you did not "purchase". i.e They don't want to give you the files to work on an Audi if you purchased the Porsche version.The problem with the Upgrade can cause a serious future issue. On installation, like any software, you PC will ask you if you are going to allow it to make changes to your computer which of course you will say yes. Window will also warn you that the software was publisher is NOT verified. Though the software worked fine, in the process it turns off the "User Account Control" (UAC). This is the setting that warns you about changes that are to be made to your computer. The software may be safe but unknowingly with the setting left off, at some future point, you could potentially download something that will make changes without your knowledge. You might find that the Nigerian Prince is really a frog. Therefore you may want to make note what your UAC settings are prior to installation so you can keep them where you want. In the search window type UAC and a window will open to your settings.Happy Motoring.
