Great for a first timer.
Be sure to fully wash everything and wear gloves. but yes this crock does work, it’s not hard, and doesn’t take too much space. Cover everything FULLY in liquid and don’t forget to top the water seal in the morning. We made some great sauerkraut. Albeit i made it a bit salty… oops. i want to do kimchi next. I think it’s a good size for someone who likes to eat fermented foods on occasion.

Excellent product!
If you like pickled foods, or thinking about starting your food fermentation journey, this product is a must! The fermentation crock is beautifully made, durable, very high quality, and reasonably priced. Very user friendly, especially for beginners. The weights fit perfectly, whole set up is easy to assemble. I had a minor issue with weights not being properly glazed, but the seller promptly sent a replacement at no additional cost. Wonderful customer service and grat product! Highly recommended!

Amazing!
I have just started my journey into fermentation. My first project was the simple yet scary sauerkraut. I wasn’t even sure I’d like it, but I figured it would be an inexpensive place to start. I ordered this crock, which is really nice. It looks great on my counter. Made the kraut, placed it in the crock, and let it sit for 4 days untouched. I opened it yesterday, and tasted it. Fantastic! No mold or funk, perfectly crunchy. I immediately started another crock! I believe the crock was the secret to success!

Weights aren't always glazed, but nice crock.
This is a cute little crock that holds 1 regular head of cabbage but there were some issues. I noticed immediately what some other reviews said about how the water trough is too shallow and evaporates fast. First night of use, water was all gone. Then I covered the whole top with plastic wrap and a towel to hold that down, and the problem was greatly reduced. I only have to top off the water every few days. I also received crock weights that had no glaxe at all. They sent a replacement but it was also not fully glazed. They're usable but require several extra steps and time for sanitation. Hopefully they don't leach any chemicals into my kraut. After 3 attempts to get properly glazed weights, I've now given up, they don't seem to have much quality control. Bummer. UPDATE: After my troubles with the weights, the seller came through and successfully rectified the issue for me! I appreciate their efforts, and they say they will work on quality control in the factory to have fewer faults in the glazing.

It works!
I was waiting for my first batch of sauerkraut to be done, so I could write a review. I am a sauerkraut amateur, have been making it for two years with relative success. However, this little vessel took my results to the next level. The fermentation was greatly enhanced, a very delicate, softer yet crunchy bite, flavorful and pleasant to eat. It accommodated two medium thinly sliced cabbages, resulting in two full mason jars of this beauty in no time, less than 2 weeks. I cannot attest how it would be like if you shred the kraut more coarsely. Sauerkraut is a great source of prebiotic and vitamin C. We eat in the morning with brocolli sprouts and beet roots. Yes, health first! Happy chucrutzing, everyone!

Fantastic for making miso!
I'm sure they're fantastic for everything fermented, but I specifically needed something to make miso, and they're the perfect size. The water seal is a great feature! The weight wasn't heavy enough for the amount of miso that fits inside, but I just doubled-up the weight, and reduced the amount of miso to a mass less than the weights, and the tamari started to form. I'm so happy with these!
