My mom introduced me to Turbie-Twist hair towels when I was a teenager, and I doubt I’ve used a regular towel in the past 25 years on my hair. Not only is it great to wash my hair first and then put it up to dry while I wash my body (conditioner can cause back acne) but it cuts down on a lot of laundry not having massive towels strictly used on hair. I’ve bought the same name-brand from different vendors over the years, and quality of their product and material varies greatly depending on the purchase source. Some were thin terry that barely absorbed anything and more just kept my hair up and away, others were thick microfiber that every piece of hair and lint stuck to and never really dried my hair as it just sucked up the water and held it there. The plush terry ones were the best for being stuck, soft, and actually drying, but actually finding those was tricky. Years ago when I was dying my hair deep auburn, I invested in a half dozen black microfiber ones and they’ve done their utilitarian duty for awhile, but the elastic that holds the towel end was starting to go, and I’ve also lost a number over the years when I’ve traveled and stayed in hotels or family’s homes. They’re not only a home staple, they’re a travel staple. Recently I had purchased a Polyte bath mat towel, and was super happy with the quality and type of terry material it was made out of. It was super thick and quick to dry, so I had been eying trading my soft but non-absorbent bamboo towels for this brand. Not ready to pull the trigger on restocking my entire linen closet, and still in need of some new hair towels, I went ahead and purchased these despite being iffy that these looked a bit plain and featureless. A button tab to secure the end with the loop isn’t exactly adjustable, and button threads are notoriously sewn in weakly. At first I was surprised that they seemed a bit thin. They are super soft, but I imagined they’d just get saturated and not really absorb to dry hair. I have fine and silky wavy hair, and LOTS of it, and it takes forever to dry. It’s been the frustration of many a stylist when it takes then 45 minutes to blow dry my hair, and I still leave damp. Same with hair dye: my hair literally just sucks up product like a sham-wow. Generally I will even double towel dry my hair, using one for the initial soak up, and then another to get more once that towel has done all it can possibly do. Imagine my surprise that these actually do a really terrific job! The perfect fabric blend and texture to absorb the moisture from my hair, and continue to wick it out to keep drying instead of just holding it. Also, the BIG deal, is the size! I have a giant Irish head: hats and wigs don’t like me. This towel width has ample room to completely cover my head, AND the length to hold my waist length thick hair. The other name brand always fell just short when my hair fell past bra-length, and I’d have to fold my ends back up into the towel. I can actually lay my entire length of hair out like it should with the Polyte hair towels. Security wise, the loop and button are okay, you just have to twist up the towel a bit more to get it to hold properly, and even then it’s a bit more loose than I’d prefer, but it does the job. Because I only wash my hair once or twice a week, I also depend on my hair towels to be a shower cap of sorts when I do a shower-only run. The other day I put a towel over my dry hair, and it did unravel mid-shower because I don’t put it on as tightly over dry hair. Overall: Recommend and would purchase again!

These towels are great so far and do a good job absorbing the wetness from my hair. It’s nice and light which is nice compared to having a thick towel on your head which can get heavy. I have thick heavy hair that takes a while to dry and these towels do help to dry out my hair. Easy to use. You can twist and secure it with the button and then do other things while your hair dries. I have also heard that hair is less frizzy when you’re using a microfibre towel and do feel my hair is less frizzy now compared to when I was using a thick cotton towel to rub my hair dry.
