False Alarms
This worked well for a few nights, if you are ok with it going off in your ear every time you want to turn it off (switch to turn off is on the back so you have to lift it away from the door to get to it). I turned the sensitivity all the way up because the way it was delivered a burglar would have to come in and punch it or something for it to go off. I felt good with it on our door until one night I woke up to it going off and got very scared only to find it was a false alarm. I turned it off and back on and went back to bed thinking it was a one time thing, but maybe half an hour later it went off again. Luckily it didn't wake up my toddler-aged son, but I won't be turning it on again because I don't like being woken up by that noise and having to wonder if there really is a break in or not.

Works awesome!
We have a stalker. Cops don't care unless they break in. At that point they'd get shot, so I was hoping to let them know to go away so they can get a life. I got one for each door, set them, and they work! Alarm went off at about 2:30am. I was in no position to give chase, but things have been silent since. No worries about cats on the door, rain or other weather outside, or other bothers. originally the alarm was set and would sound when I was not even touching the doorknob. Hey for 2am that works for me. Peace of mind. Money very well spent.

Works, really loud, but finicky sensitivity
I have 4 of these now. They are REALLY loud - if you are within 6 feet when it goes off it will be physically painful to your ears. But a good deterrent to a burglar, I imagine. I fiddled with the sensitivity setting a bunch, till finally turning it down to minimum, and still some go off for no reason whatsoever. Moreover, they surely go off when it thunders! But otherwise, when the door is just slightly opened even slowly, they go off, so that is good. But I am living with them.

Impractical
I had high hopes for this product, but it is simply too sensitive. Even when I lowered the sensitivity level to the lowest possible point - it was still way too sensitive. Anything and everything (and seemingly nothing at all)set it off. That does not work for my situation, and I suspect for the situations of most others. But if you're o.k. with hypersensitivity, this might be the product for you! The other problem with the hypersensitivity is that when you need to remove the product from the door (or just turn it off), it's pretty much impossible to do so without the alarm blasting in your ears. Not fun, and nothing I want to deal with on a regular basis. Maybe somebody has figured out a way around this, but I didn't. If you're willing to tolerate this at all, definitely wear earplugs. The alarm is quite loud. The bottom line, from my experience, is that if you want a product that you can put on a door and take it off on a regular basis, I think you will find this to be impractical.

Door alarm
I ordered 4 alarms - the package was ripped and only one alarm in package. The one alarm the batteries will not stay in place therefore alarm will not sound. Waiting for other 3 to arrive to see if same problem occurs.

Not quite what expected
The product seems quality made so the low rating is not for the product quality but rather the description should have included you have to shake a door knob in order for the alarm to go off. I was expecting it to function like my other door alarms, as soon as the door knob is touched the alarm goes off. By the time the door knob is shook on this model, the intruder will already be in the room. I like that is uses 2 AA batteries instead of 9V. There is a sensitive adjustment on the alarm but I dont have a tool to fit so can adjust to see if could be made more sensitive. I only bought one due to price point. I paid just under $12 which seemed a bit high. So price point and not being able to adjust the sensitivity is the reason for the rating, if I can make it more sensitive would probably go to 4 stars.

loud but not as loud as you may think
Very solid compact unit that is easy to use and is loud but not loud enough that some other door hanging units are. Automatic cutoff is really a plus and not to mention this unit is very sensitive to touch or vibration such as another door being shut across the room, or a loud clap of thunder as we use this unit to cover the garage door handle. It can be heard across the bottom portion of the house but barely upstairs. Still it works as it should and for the price the unit is a good buy.

Useless
I bought two of these after waking up to find a strange man in my room trying to steal my tv. Neither of them work. I followed the directions and turned the sensitivity up as far as it would go and still I have to smack them, a couple of times, hard against my hand before they make a sound. No matter how hard I slam the door, they won't go off when hanging from a door knob. I can not recommend this product. It will not help to keep you safe.
