Cutter Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent, No DEET Mosquito Repellent, 4 fl Ounce (Pump Spray)

This repellent is worth it for the peace of mind of being DEET free. We did have to apply it a couple times during the day, but it still seemed to work better than any DEET spray we have used. The lemon eucalyptus scent is much nicer, and it does not feel oily or greasy on the skin. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for, and I feel better using this on my family.

I've purchased this product in stores and on Amazon for many years and many orders. It has a smell of eucalyptus reminiscent of Halls Mentholyptus cough drops, it makes your skin sensitized in a cooling way similar to how Halls cough drops make your throat feel, and I find that refreshing during the hot, sweaty summer. If you get this in your eyes, you will be in a world of stinging pain, but the effect is completely temporary, very short lived and leaves no permanent injury, so I really don't mind when it has happened. It lasts an entire 6 hours if you thoroughly cover every inch of your skin with plenty of spray, rubbing it around, and that's four hours longer than this other horrible repellant spray cutter currently makes http://www.amazon.com/Cutter-95917-Natural-Repellent-6-Ounce/dp/B004J1IS5U . That newer spray I mentioned has a wonderful vanilla smell, but is many times less effective. I would rather have eucalyptus oil making my skin feel icy than the burn of Geraniol as found in that spray I linked. How does this spray compare to ones containing DEET? Well, I find that it doesn't last as long, but if you cover all of your skin and massage it in to be sure no spots were missed, reapplying every 5 hours, I never get a single bite, and when this spray first was released it was the same bottle design, label, and ingredients, but the brand name was "Repel", rather than "Cutter", and there were a few different articles I read that said it was the first DEET alternative spray proven to be as effective if applied correctly. Each year I seek this spray out, sometimes finding it in an odd place, but usually ordering a 6 pack of them online. I will miss this spray when I can no longer find it as I hate the smell of DEET, hate the burning of geraniol as found in some other natural mosquito products, and enjoy the cooling sideeffects of this spray being based on eucalyptus, which lets you know if you missed a spot, actually.

I was specifically looking for lemon eucalyptus oil as an ingredient because it is said to be more effective than citronella essential oil and I picked this spray up. The recent resurgence of malaria was disconcerting, so I wanted a mosquito spray that really works. My family has literally watched mosquitos fly toward them and then catch a whiff and fly in the opposite direction, so that speaks highly of this stuff! That said, I had purchased a different Murphy’s brand previously (more expensive) and the smell of that one wasn’t quite so strong and it worked great too. This one threw my migraine into overdrive a few weeks back so I don’t use it personally. Just sharing for those who are scent sensitive. Otherwise, my family loves it, it’s not chock full of nasty DEET, and it really does work! Editing to say: It’s been another hot, muggy, buggy summer on a farm next to woods and water with tons of mosquito habitats. My migraines chilled and my whole family practically lived outdoors and wore this spray constantly, myself included. We were buying it by the 6-pack. No hesitation to put it on my youngest or oldest family members. We just try to spray our arms, legs, necks, and then walk through to fresh air because it is strong going on. Smells pleasant after a time and definitely works! We re-apply if it’s an especially long, sweaty day but these bottles last a good long time and are worth their weight in gold. We ran out and bought the Murphy’s brand again and actually prefer the sprayer on these bottles so much more!

The product works. The odor is pleasant. The bottle is convenient for trips to the beach or just going outside. I would buy this again (and have). This is gentler than cutter or other spray brands.

I bought this for a recent cub scout camping trip with my 5 year old son, and the bugs typically love to eat both of us alive. This stuff worked great and completely kept the bugs away from us which was amazing. We both typically would have bug bites all over our bodies, but I'm pretty sure that he and I didn't get a single bite after using this spray. I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but for now I would highly recommend this repellent! Will continue using this in the future and will update this review if anything changes.

I bought this because I like to try to avoid DEET, but needed something that was more effective and long lasting than the other "natural" brand of bug spray I was using. The other stuff I use is kind of effective, but doesn't last long, and doesn't work sufficiently during the height of bug season. I honestly didn't expect this to do a lot better. I am the kind of person who will attract every mosquito within a mile, and get a zillion bites. I was so pleasantly surprised at how effective this stuff is for me. The scent is very long lasting -- great for helping with the bugs, but definitely keep in mind that you will smell strongly of this until you have a chance to shower it off. (It's not terrible, but might not be to everyone's taste.) It's hard for me to compare the efficacy of this with a DEET bug spray because I feel so wary about DEET that I probably don't put on enough of it. I will say that the efficacy of this, put on generously, feels similar to how effective DEET is for me when I spray it on cautiously -- some mosquitos get through, but I can go outside without fear of being swarmed or slapping away bugs all the time.

Smells horrible, but it works for me

I've has this a while but hadn't used it as I wanted to use up my other mossie repellents first. Used it in Portugal in May and have to say it was brilliant. I am a magnet for Mossies and react badly to them so I am always very careful what I use. I was nervous about using it the first time as I didn't really trust it and wasn't looking forward to getting bitten.It has a pleasant strong lemon smell to it and goes a long way, I found it also cooled my skin. I did get one bite on my face but I did not have a reaction to it which makes me think that the mossie didn't like the taste or smell so didn't hang around long enough to do their usual damage to me. This bottle will last me about half a dozen two week holidays so its value for money. Going to test it in Greece later in the year which will be a tough test as the mossie's there queue up waiting for me to land!!!

Best natural Product, Researched all online and found tests carried out in lab by a scientist that this product works best for Mosquitos and is deet free. I highly recommend it. but please ensure country address details for delivery are highlighted and correct.

does the job

I’m a mosquito magnet and usually suffer badly in tropical destinations (extreme swelling of bites). I’ve tried other DEET and alternatives before but this was the best yet (used throughout Colombia). Hardly any bites at all and it smells very nice too. I did take Benadryl once a day too so perhaps the combo was the magic this time

I forgot to use this on day one of my holiday and was bitten by mosquitoes around 8 bites. I never forgot again and was only bit twice then for the whole week. I will always buy this for future holidays, it’s expensive but worth it. Lasts a long time and you only need a little. After a week of 4 adults using, there was half a bottle left. Smell is not fantastic but not horrid.
