How thick and sturdy is the plastic netting? I have a puppy that is destroying everything and I was wondering if he will be able to chew through it?

Yes, an aggressive chewing puppy will definitely chew through it. Also, the quality is less than impressive. The posts are doweled but not glued and they come out easily leaving the netting out of the channel it is originally set in. I'm less than thrilled with this gate. It was what I was expecting, but not the quality I was expecting. My puppy is a chewer, but very respectful of barriers so he doesn't try to chew the gate.

Can a Kitten climb up by clawing into the gate?

I foster cats and kittens and have used these gates to separate cats and kittens. Up until probably 6 weeks old they won't climb them. After about 6 weeks then yes they can climb them, but if you use more than 1 they can't. I normally have 3 stacked one above the other and angle them progressively in towards the cat or kitten so when the cat or kitten looks up and starts to climb they do not see a top to go over and stop. This will normally prevent most except the most persistent cat from climbing over them.

I have an opening that is 41.5 inches. Is the gate still strong at this width?

I have a 50-lb boxer mix that is quite strong and active. I do have two of these gates to keep her out of certain areas in the house. Both openings are 42-inches wide; the gates are quite sturdy at that extended width. She has not moved the gates since I erected these over a year ago. However, I must say that she seems to understand that the other side of the gate is the "no-dog-zone", because I think she could easily leap over the gate if she wanted to. I have been very please with the quality and appearance of these gates, and with my dog's behavior.

Update: Hice la devolución por medio del portal de amazon, y debo decir: mis respetos! La logística y la forma en que manejan los reclamos y devoluciones son de primer nivel. Ya tengo en mi poder la baranda de seguridad. Todo perfecto. Muchas gracias! El articulo esta perfecto para delimitar zonas, cuenta con un sencillo pero funcional mecanismo y en general está bien construido. Trae instrucciones de uso y garantía por su registro en linea. Me gusto la relación precio y calidad. Creo que es de los mas baratos en el mercado y no por ello es un mal artículo. Desafortunadamente se me envío el producto muy mal empaquetado, es una lástima que siendo usuario prime, se me envíen los productos solo envueltos en plástico negro y ya, ni una etiqueta señalando que es un producto frágil. Se perfectamente que que si no viene etiquetado como frágil, el personal de la paquetería lo maneja sin el cuidado necesario. Tan es así, que uno de los tres barandales que compré, llego roto y lo estoy devolviendo en este momento.

I bought safety 1st stuff when my eldest was a baby 30 years ago, I still have two of the gates. They were starting to need replaced, and these are a huge improvement. This company just always seems to get it right. the supports in the corners are keeping the pressure off the joints, where the others started to bend after 30 years. Just well made over all. A bit too hard at first to unfold, but eventually the metal bit released. No problem since removing and moving it. I find the black plastic a much more stylish choice than the white from my old ones.

Excellent product. Lightweight, so easy to be handled with just one hand. Yet sturdy, made from good quality stuff. Doesn't hurt the child in anyway....excellent buy...recommended for every home with a baby. My life has gotten simplified with this one for sure!

Very light weight and practical. Takes a while to get used to adjusting and locking it but works great after! Very sturdy and well-built, better with a door but easy to cross over if you are tall enough. Good buy I would say!
