Ok, I read a few reviews before buying this and figured I would try it anyway since I was getting a Mi 5 and a knockoff M4 style. First off, I tried to initially to fit it and it fell through then I realized I was ignoring something important after getting pissed for no reason. The image shows that the band comes with silicone rings to allow the watch body to sit in the band snugly. There are four bands, two for a Mi 4 or 3 and two for a Mi 5 style. I tried on the knockoff, which was DOA btw so wouldn't recommend that, and it fit snugly inside without slipping through, but it does sit a bit high. The M5 is shown on my wrist and in the image in the watch. It fits snug and a little lower like in the silicone band. Image instructions are about all you get as the box itself is not in English, but it is easy and straightforward. Slide on sleeve, narrow section up and push up through bottom of band. The band comes with a small screwdriver for adjustment. You stick the screwdriver in the hole and lift the latch mechanism so you can slide the band to adjust. I didn't have to adjust the band because it came set to fit my pudgy size 8 wrist. I tend to swell so needed something that would have a bit of wiggle and this has a little bit more length for those days. First day worn, so not sure if the clasp comes undone or anything like that. It latches over the bar and snaps down. It is not a slide through and latch. Really nice band to dress up a sporty Mi 5! Update:3/2022 latch stays very secure and has not come undone even though I have worn it day and night since buying it. I sleep rough too so tossing, turning, hitting hubby in the head, the watch stayed put! In the same time I killed 3 silicone bands with a prior watch. I even took a week off of wearing mostly because I took it off to clean/sanitize and forgot and killed a silicone band I was using as a replacement.

I bought a metal band because the usual silicone material bands would pop open easily, the hole I used would wear down in a few months, and the band itself accumulated my sweat and lotion into a nasty goop that would need to be washed with a soap and a brush for the holes. This band was much easier to clean with an alcohol pad, doesn't pop open, and it doesn't stink after a few days like the silicone bands. I've had it for over 3 months now and none of the issues I've had with the default band have occurred. I live in Western Washington so I can't comment about a hot day. The hottest I've lived through with the band is in the 80s, Fahrenheit. Being outside on a hot day hasn't been a problem. It comes with a tiny flat head to adjust the clip but I've popped it open just fine with a pen cap. Anything with a little bit of leverage and a narrow profile would work. Through some combination of life, my wrist is now smaller than the lowest practical setting for the band which is advertised as 6". My wrist is currently 5.75" and while I can physically adjust the clasp to fit my wrist, the excess strap has to push against the watch itself which makes putting the watch back on a dedicated 20 seconds+ instead of 1 second when I was still within range of the band.

Well, it is a tight fit and I question (hope) my Amazfit band 5 watch stays in place and doesn’t fall out. They provide rubber gaskets for both Band 3 & 4 and Band 5 & 6 watches which need to go around your watch, and then you insert it into the watchband frame. The directions say to “Push hard.” That’s for sure. I guess I would feel better if I felt it snap into place, but it does not. Apparently, the tight fit and rubber gasket against the metal watch band will be enough to hold it in place. We’ll see. Other than that, it looks great and the band itself seems solid. I included a couple pictures. Not the gap between the watch and the watchband frame.

I got the rubber gasket onto the watch body and in right position. It is supposed to then be pressed into the replacement metal watch frame firmly until . I pressed it so hard I thought either the watch or the strap would break, but it will not hold. I've tried putting one end in first in to get it far enough to really grab, and then pushing the other end in. It is too loose to hold. The watch body will definitely fall out. The original watch band fits into a groove around the watch body, which holds great. This band does not snap into the groove. It just fills the groove with a rubber band, which is supposed to provide enough friction against the smooth flat walls of the watch frame. This is obviously an attempt to adapt a frame to fit different watch pieces, but it does NOT work with this Mi Band 5, and I have doubts that it would work well with any others.

Overall very comfortable, sturdy, secure, good looking, easy to adjust. The only negative is that vibration feels much more mild than it did in my factory band. Getting the watch into the band the first time was a little difficult because the rubber gasket was not yet formed to the watch shape. It went in much easier after the first charge. To get the band on first time place the rubber gasket around the watch. Then apply a very light coat of soapy water to the outside of the rubber gasket, then insert it into the band from the back (per the instructions). After it sits in place for a week or two as you wear it the band adopts the watch shape and removal/insertion into the band becomes easier.

This watch was a gift from my Husband a few years ago. I'm so used to it, it helps me with my everyday tasks and training, but the bands were an absolute mess. They didn't last. I bought several, and they all came with silicon, and with use, they broke. Hopelessly. So I figured I needed something stronger, and I think this is it; I will have my watch for more time thanks to this stainless steel band, and it looks so elegant; I love it!
