Perfect part of the costume!
These were a perfect part of my husband's costume, comfortable, great price, size chart was spot on! Alittle slippery on bottom at first. Wore them around on asphalt and all was good,

Sizing should be adjusted
Order two(2) size larger than your shoe size. Unfortunately, I failed to take the advice of another reviewer and barely go my foot in the Kung Fu Tai Chi shoe ... I had ordered one size larger. I'm currently looking for something to do with the shoes I brought. There was no substantial smell. For the price, I would buy again.

They have loosened up some and are more comfortable now. Im happy with these and will probably ...
I bought these with the intention of wearing them in my car. Im taking a welding degree and driving my 6sp MINI Cooper S with steel toe boots on is not the easiest thing. So I swap these on for the drive. I had to throw an insole in because you can feel the grid structure in the heel, and because of that they were a bit tight with socks on. They have loosened up some and are more comfortable now. Im happy with these and will probably buy them again.

Big Nostalgia
I got these for my husband this Christmas out of a sense of nostalgia. He smiled, said thanks, and put them away. They just aren't his style anymore, although I am always trying to get him to dress the way he used to when we were dating ... and this style shoe was a part of it. From my own review, they look to be the same quality as the ones I used to buy for him at a local karate shop, and the price here at Amazon was quite a bit lower than the last pair I bought 15+ years ago. I'm sure he will wear them once the weather warms up. I also bought a pair for my son, and he loves them. He has huge, wide feet, and these narrow shoes fit him quite well. For the price, go ahead and give them a try!

Terrible quality
Bought the shoe twice. First tme, I bought a size larger and it was still too small (these are narrow shoes) so that was really my faul. i however reordeded the next size. The shoe literally lasted for a day of use with insole coming away from the shoe. Wll not recommend.

Kung Fu Failure
I purchased these shoes because I've owned this type before, paid about the same for them and they served me well. I was greatly disappointed when the insole of the right shoe separated from the sole and bunched up under my foot after only 20 minutes of practicing kicks. For now I'll try glueing them and see how that works.

Not as Well Made as I Remember
I used to buy shoes like this when I was younger and was always surprised by the quality for the price. They lasted a long time and the soles were so good you could easily go outside once in a while. Not so much with these. I returned them. I didn't like: - the general quality was below my expectations. - loose threads, etc. They wouldn't have lasted long. - The sole was weak and cheap - not even close to the pairs I used to buy years ago. Even at this price, they're not worth it for me. I spent a little more and went with leather mocassins. If you wanted to really save some money and didn't mind a little effort, get a leather moccasin kit and make your own - the kit is less than half of just buying the mocassins already made. I bet you can get a kit for under $20 and they're going to last a lot longer. My two cents.

Really like these, why buy Nike or NB?
For those of you who are not into martial arts, consider this shoe anyway as a daily wear shoe. It has no significant sole and is overall very flat. Its as good, better in my opinion, that several of the brand names like Nike, New Balance, etc. versions that cost a tone more. It improves your waking and standing postures. If you are not sure you are walking right, try walking backwards for a bit and see if you can mimic the same movements going forwards. If you are still not sure, try the book "8 steps to a pain free back", she goes over it in some detail.
