It worked for us - just have to spray often
We found this spray does keep the dogs away but you do have to spray often, like at least once or twice a day. It has a very strong smell that repels dogs. I can't speak for other animals.

This Product Does Not Work
I have two large breed dogs. I bought this to stop their behavior of nibbling into grass/soil. The first time I applied it, one of them rolled around in it. He also continued to nibble in the area. The other nibbles in the same area where I applied this product. The container is almost empty and they continue to nibble in sprayed areas. This product DID NOT WORK. A complete waste of money.

This stuff works, even long term!
Bottom line up front: this stuff is a miracle. I have been using it regularly with my 9 mo old husky puppy for about 6 months now and it still deters her. It only lasts about 2-3 days before it needs to be reapplied, but it works on all surfaces. A couple things to note: you will need to use more of it on fabrics than solid surfaces. It also leaves a residue on whatever you spray. My furniture is all deep espresso brown, with white spray residue. It is water soluble so it wipes off easy enough if I have company coming over, just be aware. I haven’t had any trouble with it staining fabrics, but it still leaves that residue and it is a dirt magnet. I have to shampoo my carpeted stairs once a month to keep them looking decent. Longer story: My pup loves to chew everything she shouldn’t and I never imagined she would (preferably anything wood, but she’ll go for aluminum or plastic as a last resort). She started with the carpeted stairs. I tried the Bitters stuff, and it worked for maybe a day before she decided it was a tolerable enough to continue shredding the stairs. I tried some other products with the bitter flavor and none work. I found this spray at Petco one day and noticed it has different active ingredients so I gave it a shot. I sprayed the carpet (and now exposed wood) and was happy to note she was deterred. Unfortunately, she found other things to chew that hadn’t been sprayed, like other stairs, baseboard trim, my couch legs, rugs, and coffee table. She doesn’t get to chewing when I’m home, but for days I have to be gone for the day, I always take a few minutes to spray everything down that she might want to chew, even if she hasn’t tried yet (including wall corners). It is such a relief that I’m not coming home to piles of loose carpet anymore. I go through about a bottle per month, but its worth it.

Works to keep dogs out of my garden
We have a lot of dogs in my development. I’m a dog lover – I have one myself – but I don’t want them peeing on my shrubs! My doorbell camera kept capturing video of the culprits. My HOA wouldn’t allow me to put up a sign asking dog walkers to direct their pups elsewhere, so I bought this repellent. The citronella smell is definitely a deterrent – they notice it, they take a couple of sniffs, and they move on. It’s not an ugly smell that will bother the humans. I spray this every three days or so, as well as after any significant rainfall. The first couple of times I used it, the sprayer was leaking, and I started using latex gloves so I didn’t have the scent on my hands. I was able to tighten the sprayer top to prevent leakage, although it took some trial and error to get it just right. So far so good.

Doesn’t work
Smells good, but did not deter the dogs from certain areas.

Works in side, even though it is labeled for outdoor use only.
Even though the label states it is not for indoor use, I use it exclusively inside. The ingredients are detergent (sodium lauryl sulfate) and some essential oils. It has done no damage or staining to my counters or stove. I have an unruly cat who thinks that kitchen counters are a better place to pee than his litterbox. We've tried everything, including the ridiculously expensive diffusers, pheromone sprays, calming sprays, etc. Nothing worked. This, at least, keeps him from peeing on my stove and kitchen counters. It smells incredible, so it's actually nice to use. When we do find a new spot where he has peed, we use this to saturate the area after we clean it and wipe the excess up with a paper towel.

Doesn’t work for big dogs, at least the big dogs in our neighborhood.
My dog started using rubber mulch as a chew toy, so I purchased this to discourage her. I sprayed this heavily on the mulch. The neighbor‘s dog from across the street charged over and started rolling in it. My dog sniffed it a few times and was unimpressed. Grabbed another piece of rubber and started chewing. Maybe it works with cats or small dogs. Completely worthless with our dogs. Typically, I don’t write reviews, but my neighbor commented they must’ve put dog attractant in the bottle by mistake. so I want to share the experience.
