Faulty Unit
I really wanted to love these headphones but mine arrived with the left ear cup sounding completely different from the right. It was boomy and fatigued my left ear almost immediately. I tried different cables, different devices, and even wore the headphones the other way around to isolate any variables and my conclusion is that it was a faulty left driver. Started a refund process.

Gaming Audiophile headphone
Finally a budget (bang for the bucks) entry level headphone which can be considered an Hi-Fi headphone. Pros: - Very comfortable to wear even in prolonged use - Crisp treble and bass is not to overpowering - cushions are made of durable upholstery similar to sofas and car seats - good for its price Cons: - being an open-back headphone, the bass might not be as “boomy” as you want it to be although this is what a to expect from open-back headphones/headset. besides, real audio clarity is not judged solely on bass alone. - the speaker cable feels cheap. Additional remarks: I bought this along with a V-Moda Boom Pro microphone. The V-Moda Boom Pro mic plugs perfectly with this headphone so you can turn this into a exceptional gaming headset. Also replaces the cheapo speaker cables of the headphone.

Saluti

With so many bluetooth headsets out there now, from the Sony XB900's which cost slightly more than these, to the XM4's, is there a place for a simple, WIRED over ear open back headphones like these? Absolutely! I've been using the Philips SHP9600 since February as a daily driver for watching movies, playing games and just regular content from YouTube. Its by far my favorite headset when it comes to producing a pleasing, balanced sound. And its ACTUALLY an over-ear size as well, not one of those "hybrid" designs where the over ear cup is so tiny that it might as well be an on ear headset. LOOKING AT YOU SONY PULSE 3D headset. If you have never tried open backed headphones before, these are a great entry point. Bass is solid, with just enough punch without being overpowered at all, and the mids and treble's dont sound overly sharp, but just right. No matter what i throw at it, i'm never disappointed. Orchestral soundtracks? Wonderful soundstage. Kpop? Sounds extremely lively. Rap? Clear voices and rock solid bass. Podcasts? Terrific voice clarity. And comfort? Oh so comfortable, even when i'm wearing glasses on a humid day, the open back design makes sure you dont have sweaty-warm ears easily. I can very happily wear these for a TV binge. After using so many noise cancelling headsets this just feels so much more natural. And as much as i love my XM3 & XM4, after a while the closed in design does have an effect. BUT of course, you give up a ton of modern functionality. So here are a few reasons why you should NOT get these headphones. - Extremely noisy due to the open back nature. So if you are in a public space, everyone can hear you - Wired connection only - Of course, no noise cancellation If those missing features bother you, then you arent in the right place. But if what you want is a good all rounder, that is comfortable, does not overheat your ears, and sounds great, this is it! Its the best sounding headphones i have at this price point.
H**!
These are excellent headphones but consider your usage. These are big open-backed headphones. They leak sound and don't guard against outside noise much. These are for your usage at your desk/couch when playing games (no mic) or listening to music/watching tv. They are big and comfortable and do all of that really well but at that price there are cheaper headphones that also do that well. I think these have a very neutral sound profile. They handle whatever you throw at them but it isn't like bass or treble or anything will explode at you. In that sense, if what you really want are Sennheiser or Beats, then you should buy those because they sound different at a fundamental level. It isn't a "quality" thing, it's just a preference thing. That's fine! I just want to you have a sense of what you'll be getting and you should understand these headphones have a different profile from the other brands, and they sound different from Skullcandy as well. I guess my only concern with these headphones, having accepted that they are for home use, is that I'm not driving them properly. They don't get that loud compared to other headphones I have. I'm running them out of my tv monitor or laptop. I think I'm leaving a lot on the table without additional power for these things. I imagine they'd get louder and brighter, in which case they'd be truly marvelous. As it stands, they sound wonderful (distinct, but wonderful) and for the value hit above their weight class. If you've been in the $40-$50 range these are a clear improvement-- that much is clear. Probably with an amp they'd be even more. The sound is very neutral. A lot of high-end brands play up warm profiles and deep bass. I guess these could have deep bass, but the warm, bass-y sound stage you hear on headphones that cost more is a design choice. You may like that! These are designed to be clear and crisp and they are. At the same time, because they aren't getting super loud, and don't necessarily do anything to "grab" me with the listening experience like an artificial bass or a "comfy" sound stage, I find myself frequently using cheaper headphones to get that quick hit of warm bass and (overly?) engineered sound-stage. Don't get me wrong: I've used these nearly every day for years (2nd pair). I always come back to these headphones. But I can't help but think they are also designed for more than just laptop or TV monitor power. If you are fine with what you have, you may not be blown away by these headphones unless you specifically want something clear or very comfortable for a very specific use. Beyond that, these are great.

Just get a Tube Amp and all the negative reviews fades away. This is an awesome headphone with mid focused tuning. bass is enough for classical, jazz and country. Bass heads stay away.
