I gave this to my 1 year old granddaughter two years ago... she absolutely loves it & still plays with the little people etc everyday! I wish they would come out with a new one as I would purchase it again for her... absolutely age appropriate & she incorporates all the characters into her other little people playsets!

Q: Did other people receive boxes with perforated "doors"? Mine aren't, so wondering if it's defective or how kids are supposed to open on their own?

Hi, I found out you must slide it out to find the perforated doors. They added a safety cover over top of the advent calendar so the figures won't fall out. Cut the tape that's stuck to the actual advent calendar. Please let me know if that fixes your issue. Ps- I thought the same thing too but, I was afraid if I opened it I would ruin it; only to discover the perforation was underneath :)
