Great as first words
Great to teach first words. Good quality cards with textures on each picture. Also has the color or shape in Spanish, French, German or Chinese on the back, but would be more helpful it it also included the picture in each language.

These cards are sturdy cardboard, of similar weight and finish to pages of a board book. Nice size too...approx 5x7 inches. There are 6 shape cards (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, diamond and heart), not exhaustive of 2 dimensional shapes, but appropriate for infants and toddlers. There are 10 colour cards. The images are realistic photographs, and each has a small textured segment which will be engaging for, and stimulate the senses of small children. There is also the bonus of a double sided card with suggested ways to use and play with the cards, addressing the learning levels of a variety of infants and toddlers. I purchased these for the sensory features for a young infant, but the bonus card certainly has suggested ways for our older children to benefit from them as well. Great, sturdy product with broad usefulness.

Poco a poco.

The cards are high in colour contrasts and have prompts that help you question and think about the pictured item.

I love these sets of cards. I have one about words. This one is shapes and colors. Each of this series has suggestions for how to use the cards on the back of each card. The cards have various things to touch. My granddaughter loves to touch each card, name the color, shape, and begin all over again multiple times. She loves them and when she is done, she will put them back in the box. The cards are large, which I really like and the fact that she will be occupied learning for a good long time. She is 3.

As with the DK first words flash cards, the box is nice and easy for little ones to handle. It's durable as well. But the cards are a bit disappointing. It's really a hit and miss, with some (duck, dog and orange) being really nice textures, but many others only being shiny. That's not touch and feel. Aside from that, the images for the "colours" are much better than for the "shapes", some of the choices are silly. Why choose ballerina shoes for the shoes? They barely resemble normal shoes. That's not a useful thing to teach a small child. This isn't the nicest set of cards, and I find only about half of them to be useful. I wouldn't really recommend these.
