The stuff works fine. My problem is with Amazon delivery. They have a bad habit of shipping these in a thin brown bag and then they arrive smashed messy wrecked to smithereens. Then when you ask for a replacement they demand that you send this mess back to them IN A BOX since it is delicate and can get smashed easily. Yet they don't send it to you in the Box in the first place but they demand you send it to them in a box to return it. Amazon really needs to get on the ball because this has happened more than once.

Update 4/2021: I would not recommend Just For Men for coloring just your grays golden blond. I found that the best solution for me was to double-process the salon way but to DIY to more precisely control times and experiment with toners and save some money. I went platinum white rather than continue trying to dye just the grays. That may be very bold for a lot of guys, but works for my features. Update 10/2019: (Scroll to end.) (This review is for lighter shades of Autostop.) I have prematurely gray hair and am nearly 50% white in my 30s. I have been messing around with bleach and dyes, going to Sally's, etc. since college. I am intimately aware of the shortcomings of traditional haircolor. I had accepted that perfect color without brass means a 2-3 hr. bleaching session followed by either rocking a platinum look or dyeing back down. So, with a fresh haircut and all virgin growth, I was ready to try something new. The lack of peroxide intrigued me. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think I see any lift. However, "dark blond" went a bit darker and redder than I cared for. I think it's probably an NG, so not very red, but "gold". I'll take it, but this is not a lighter version of my natural darks. Next I will try "light brown" and see if that's any closer. The good thing is since this is no-lift, once you find the right color, you can maintain it without going brassy. Another issue is longevity. The dark blond rinsed out to noticeably lighter with daily use of purple shampoo in two weeks, so this isn't as permanent as a peroxide-based product. However, I am impressed by the gray coverage and lack of skin staining. I recommend buying two of each shade you think might work. It's still cheaper than paying $80-$120 to a salon. Use latex gloves and do not use the applicator brush. That just withholds another ml of product you'll never get back. Make sure to coat all strands before the cream turns dark, starting with sideburns. Wait 10 minutes, then apply colorsafe shampoo with gloved hand, rinse and scrub off any staining asap with a washcloth. So, after a bit of playing with JFM AS, I decided the color I chose was too dark and went for a full bleach-out. Here's the thing. The dyes used in this product take almost twice as long to remove. I must have sat in the bleach waiting for the pink tinge to fade for an hour past palest yellow. This left me with beautifully whitened hair, but the ends which had been bleached a month prior just kind of crumbled. I'm a guy and my haircuts are typically on the short side, (and I knew what I was getting into beforehand) so I wasn't too shocked. My stylist said the extreme processing was required due to the very difficult-to-remove metallic dyes. So, I'm going to have to not recommend this product to anyone who might tend to get creative and dye their hair shades other than pink or red. Otherwise, start with the lightest shade and go gradually darker. It's cheaper to do this on Amazon rather than paying full retail at a pharmacy, so I'd still say just get every shade you might need and start light.

I have short hair, about 3/4" long. I find the cheap comb that comes with this wastes a lot of dye so I throw that comb away and use two toothbrushes, one with stiff bristles and one with soft bristles. I start by putting dye on the stiff toothbrush and gently dab that onto my hairline. DON'T squeeze the dye into the bristles of that toothbrush, just put a THIN layer on the tips of the bristles & dab that onto my hairline. Next I get a soft bristled toothbrush and further spread the dye throughout my hair. Hint: I use light brown dye. I discard the first 1/4" or so of dye that comes out of the tube because air has already made contact with it and turned it dark. The next 1/4" strip or so that comes out after that is also dark but just the part that you see. Inside that strip is usually lighter which means it hasn't oxidized so it will work just as good as if it was new.

First thing I have to say about this product is PAY ATTENTION when people say go for a lighter color than you think your hair is. I went medium brown at first and had multiple staring at me asking what changed. So I went with light brown and it was not obvious I had dyed my hair anymore. Secondly...this product does not erase all grey hair. It gets rid of most of it...but I found particularly at the roots near the sideburns I just can't get it to completely block out the grey no matter how much I smear in. I leave it in longer than the 15 recommended minutes too. Usually 30 mins to an hour. That being said it does make a significant difference and people not longer can call me out for going grey. YOU CAN REUSE THIS PRODUCT. The manufacturer is lying to get you to buy more when they say one time use. After applying to your grey areas squeeze the tube so that the product comes to the lip of the tube and then recap tightly. I keep mine in the fridge but I don't know if this is necessary. I've also just recapped and kept in a drawer and it seemed to work fine. After recapping take the applicator tip and blow all the excess product out in to the sink (or in your hand). At first I was getting rid of it then I realized it was a waste so I put on one of the two included applicator gloves and used the excess that comes out to smear around other areas of my head. Then flush water through the applicator tip several times and blow it out. This prevents it from being clogged so you can reuse it. The product works on oxidation so it is key to make sure the bottle is squeezed to the top when you recap and that you get as much product out of the applicator tip when you are done. If you do this you can re-use this product 3-4 times depending on how much you use each time. I find the color starts fading around 2-3 weeks and usually at that point do another application. As I mentioned earlier it won't get rid of ALL the grey hair but it certainly hides big white patches that I have on the sides of my head. So...to recap...go with a step lighter than you think you need. Follow my instructions for re-use and you can save yourself blowing 8 bucks every 2-3 weeks just to keep your hair darker. All that said it's a good product. It doesn't stain the skin badly....after I apply I use a DRY tissue paper to wipe back/away all the excess that gets on my forehead and ears. I also don't use shampoo for my first shower afterwards....I just rinse really well with water to allow it to sink in longer. I would recommend this as well for a better initial coloring. And make sure to get a color safe shampoo. It's hard to find one made specifically for men but I was able to find one at Walmart that appeared at least somewhat gender neutral and affordable.

I consider myself to have light to medium brown hair and this made my mustache look blonde and silly. I'll have to try a darker brown next time. It's very misleading because when you apply it to your hair, it is dark-dark, and it can make you panic.
