Very nicely made (the case looks like professional quality). Full range of adjustment from full bright down past the point where LEDs cease emitting light. Does not have a click off but the electricity transmitted at the minimum setting is barely measurable and effectively OFF. Connection block is convenient for wiring hookup. Mounts to underside of kitchen cabinets easily with the four mounting holes (use #6 screws). There's a lot of empty space inside case and the knob is a bit tall... could be made much smaller to be more easily hidden. I put this underneath cabinets in the very back and they don't show (unless you're sitting down, they everything else shows too). I chose this after five of the cheap digital remotes/controllers had failed. Assuming these components are reasonably good quality this should last for many years. I came to the realization that a simple PWM controller with knob is not only more reliable but is also actually more convenient than a remote -- no need to keep up with the remote, no batteries to change, and much less chance of failure. You will know exactly where the knob is located so it's easy enough to reach under the cabinet and turn the knob to adjust the under-cabinet lighting brightness. In actual use, you will find the ideal brightness level and then rarely change it.

I took a chance and so far I can recommend this dimmer. I received it recently and wired a mock up to test it before installing to see if it'll work with my high end & expensive Waveform Lighting LED strip and some Amazon components (Lustaled 20W LED 24v Switching Converter and Thinkbee Wireless Light Switch Kit). The dimmer was easy to wire up, there was no humming noise, it was silent through the whole range, was able to get full brightness, good modulation through dim range and dims down to approx. 10%-20%, before the light turns off. The second pic has a dimension measurement drawing measured off the one I received. The aluminum knob feels nice and turns smoothly. For $9.00 it's very hard to beat. The metal housing is solid. FYI: total height of dimmer housing including knob is 1.840", w/o knob: 1.177" The last three pics shows different dimmer range (lowest, approx 40%, full 100% power) TBH, I was surprised they all worked well together, a wireless AC on/off switch wired to a small led transformer, to the dimmer feeding 24v going to my 3 foot long full spectrum high 96 CRI 17w/1350 lumens led strip. Its an awesome set up. This will be for an under cabinet lighting a stove top once the aluminum housing/diffuser arrives. PS: Check out Waveform lighting, it's worth it and has twice the lumens per foot than the similar high CRI ones you can get here. I will update this review after using if there's any issues.

I bought the plastic version of this before from another vendor for a similar price and was impressed. So I tried this metal version that looks identical to the plastic one.... and it is identical, just in metal. No flicker, nice removable connector, very good dimming range, clear labeling, easy to mount, smooth control, energy efficient, great price. Have been using them 24x7 for months with no issue so far. About the only thing I can think of to improve it would be if the box were smaller/thinner. UPDATE: Of the 4 I ordered, one of them went defective after just a month of use- it got stuck between 80 and 90% brightness. So I have lowered my rating from 5 stars to 4. I ordered a few more spares, it is still not a bad deal.... just keep in mind that they might not be as reliable as you hope.

I used this rheostat to troubleshoot the IPR on a diesel truck. I needed to know if the ipr was working or the PCM was faulty. The ipr worked fine. The rheostat allowed me to operate the ipr like the pcm would, more or less, and also revealed the voltage required to be able to start the engine which I hadn’t been able to do. I did have to make a pigtail for the ipr from an old harness and then wire it up through the rheostat. I’ll put this one in my tool box and get another for future uses. Being able to vary dc voltage isn’t easy and sometimes it’s necessary.

I bought this dimmer to use with some LED landscaping lights. With less than about 15W connected, the dimmer does not dim the lights very well. With higher loads on the dimmer, the lights Dim much better. I am not sure if this is a problem with the dimmer, the power supply, or the landscaping lights. I didn't take a star away for this. The reason that I am giving the product 3 stars is because of the noise that the dimmer makes. When dimmed, the dimmer itself makes a high pitched noise that is extremely annoying.

Simple installation, sturdy construction. Does not come with screws.
