Great book
I’m very picky with the books that I read, if it’s not teaching me anything I move on. This is probably my top five mental health books. I sent a good 30 back. If you have an anXious attachment style I like myself, this book will be good for you.

Concept is good but can be forced
It’s a bit dated now but not a hard read. What is hard is the forced language of terms like loving adult. They are labeling some concepts that would probably be easier if they just said what normal people would say instead of trying to make up their own. The concept overall of talking to your inner child also came across a bit hokey, but I can see the value in what they’re trying to get people to do.

Resounding clearly
This book was so easy to read, and flowed so well it resonated with me in so many areas. I hope this book works for you as well.

Good book
This book was engaging and the concepts were outlined in a way that lay persons could easily understand. This book opened up the concept of the inner child in a very accessible way for me. This book alone isn't enough to help you to fully access the inner child but it is enough to get you started and to get you relief if you are in pain. I found myself wishing that there was a workbook while I was reading the chapters. Turns out there is one. I would have given the book 5 stars if the material in the workbook was included. I feel that this would make the book live up to its title. This is a solid book. I recommend to others and will be re-reading throughout the years.I bought the Kindle version. It has quite a bit of spelling errors but they do not take away from the quality of the book.

LIFE CHANGING
Wonderful! After becoming a licensed therapist and having years of therapy myself, I found this book (as well as Inner Bonding) to be the missing pieces of the puzzle for me. I HIGHLY, highly recommend both of them. They've each been life-changing, teaching me to love and care for myself in the deepest most painful places from my history and move on to joy.

Amazed!
This is one of the few books were the term of codependency is greatly explained. The terminology used is direct and easy to relate if you have been on the path of self growth. It is also quite insightful on how to catch yourself on yoir false beliefs by observing at a deeper level your core wounds. I'm so blessed to have found this book.=)

Where were you 30 years ago Margaret?
Sometimes you read a review and wonder. This is the 1st review I've ever given a book. I've been searching for something that spoke to me and the section "unloved child;" well, it made me cry. I had to read it three times to really absorb all of it. This book is not a fast read on any level, if you're serious about really healing your heart. I had no clue how messed up I am until I got this book. I knew I was struggling, but could never put my finger on it until now. I have a paperback as well as kindle edition on my phone when on the go. Thankfully, I'm only an addict of TV!!! :) It made so many things more clear for me and allowed me to be more forgiving with myself, plus more aware of what I'm saying, doing, acting and the true reasons as to why... I always knew that my parents where doing how they were taught, but never did see clearly what it was doing to me until now. If you really want to give your emotional self a hand up by your own adult hand, this book will help. Only read what you can handle in a sitting, don't force it. Good Luck!

Essential and vital missing link
I have been digging in my dirt psychologically for over 40 years and read many wonderful books. Had numerous conversations and feel I have a good angle on my suffering. BUT this book and looking at my inner child has been the missing link. I'm devouring every page and so grateful to have this wonderful book.

Highly recommended
Great book for people who want to heal from the inside and stop looking outside of themselves for what they want and need. This book I would say is a real help to people struggling to understand why they just cannot get over something, or can't stop feeling a certain way. The answers are inside yourself, and this book helps the reader to understand that well.

Excellent guide
Very helpful in guiding the way forward. I have changed from needy behaviour to more self dependent and am much happier and settled. Highly recommended. Alice pearson

astonishingly good
I found this book incredibly helpful. It articulates in a few paragraphs the ideas I have learned over many years and from many different books, classes, groups, religions and one-to-one therapies. Maybe I am just ready to hear it. I hope you're ready to hear it too, because if you're willing to do the work this is a shortcut to becoming whole.
