Great Resource!
I worked in a trauma-informed setting with high school students for two school years. I needed something in addition to what the school offered in the way of training and faculty support. Being left on my own to figure it out, I searched and read lots of reviews. This book and its companion rose to the top of my purchase list. I have yet to be disappointed in either of these selections.

a great source to self-evaluate my kids and ourselves as parents.
I currently used the ideas in this book to guide my nephew who is smart but scattered, even though he is 20+. But this works for tween as well as young adults in their first few years of twenties, as I experienced and witnessed.Read many times to understand or materialize the skills in details and in action.

Long and wordy but probably insightful
I wish I would’ve gotten some feedback on these books before I started reading it… It’s incredibly long and wordy but I can see that they are trying to get to some good points. I was just trying to figure out if it was better to read the kid book where the team back for a 12-year-old and I could not find any feedback anywhere I wish I would’ve gotten some feedback on these books before I started reading it… It’s incredibly long and wordy but I can see that they are trying to get to some good points. Highly recommended!!
An excellent reference. I read the entire book through, completed the quizzes. I have had a few talks about executive skills with my daughter, but after about 5 minutes, I can see her eyes glaze over, and know that all she's hearing is BLAH BLAH BLAH (if I could just get to my phone...) BLAH BLAH BLAH. Finally, I just gave her the book and told her what to read. Thankfully, she loves quizzes and checklists, so when she took the ones in the book, everything I had been saying suddenly became crystal clear. When she scored those quizzes, she could see exactly where her strengths and weaknesses are. For a teen, the ability to step back and take an objective look at your own behaviour is a huge step! We now have a broader, more objective picture of her abilities, and from there we can work out a plan. That is the next hurdle. I recommend using this book as a tool to empower your teen and open up a dialogue about working with your own strengths and weaknesses. It has been a great help for us.

Helpful for my 12 going on 13 yr old girl
This book is a great resource for middle school kid parents. My child is 7 th grade. I guess I could have started last year but we were in the midst of pandemic and most of schools were shut. So this year, Now that my daughter is back to school, I have a time to read and really focus on skills she needs. It helps identify my EXecutive function skills vs my teen.It is a great book to identify the problems and giving strategies as well.Highly recommend for parents who have no idea how to help teen w organizational problems

One of the BEST RESOURCES for parents of teenagers struggling w/ EF.
If you're a parent or educator who has lots of questions or seeks understanding of how to best understand/support these young men and women, then this is a book stuffed full of meaty, applicable, timely, research based, practical and appropriate answers and applications.➡️ This is one of the BEST RESOURCES for identifying, understanding, and responding to teenagers with EF challenges! Not only might it help save your teenager's life but the nuggets of info found within (when applied) will help to save and strengthen the parent/child relationship and equip your teenager with skills they can use for life... long after you're done reminding them of everything they used to forget 😉

Insightful book for parents
This book really breaks down executive functioning and teen behavior. The most helpful thing is the assessments that parents and teens can use to assess where they need to focus their energy.

help them mature and be more productive. Not so scattered but improved focus
Teen who is very mentally active and loves doing so many things she Just leaves things undone and thus her focus falls to guide her to a better finished product and a way of achieving and setting better goals for herself. It works but you must work with them and guide and direct them and give plenty of praise. It's hard to change the way they handed it before they develop their teenage brain and the world is so crazy and fast paced. Worth the purchase and reading to help them get more together in High School and beyond!
