GREAT KEYBOARD!

Wow! This is a great keyboard. The keys have less travel than my ThinkPad. Microsoft doesnt make keyboards like they used to anymore. im going to buy a second one of these to have as a backup. I have a 3 monitor setup and type a lot. I bought the logitec mx keys and the mk955..... returning both of those. the only downside to this keyboard is not having a numeric pad.

Nice keyboard - 9 months of battery life with heavy daily use

Nice keyboard - 9 months heavy use before battery died. I would recommend this keyboard if you need something compact. Make sure you have extra replacement batteries on hand is the only thing I would mention.

Perfect portable keyboard

Great little portable keyboard. Small, lightweight and very responsive.

It's a great compact keyboard with a few confusing qwirks

Honestly, I wanted to love this thing. I'm even writing my review with it right now. But it's going back, and for reasons that may not bother you. I'll start with things that I really like. It's fairly quiet, the keystrokes travel isn't too bad and it's pretty easy to get used to, and the fact this will connect to three Bluetooth devices is great. It's also very responsive. I wanted to give this one a try because I was deciding between it or the newer Surface Keyboard (2nd Edition) -- I absolutely LOVE my original Surface Keyboard, and I also use the Apple Magic Keyboard with my MacMini. So having one that could work with both was nice.Unfortunately, I am a numeric keypad junkie. I make due on laptops without them, but on my home computers I really maximize their use, both on Mac and PC. So not having one here really started to get on my nerves. I also noticed that the pitch of the keyboard is much lower (closer to the Apple one), which is not bad, but it's not to my liking as it's almost flat. I find the Surface Keyboard to be more comfortable. Some people have talked about the batteries, and I agree that coin-type CR batteries seem strange, but that does make this a lower profile and lighter keyboard. Assuming it has a decent battery life, I guess it's okay. I would have just made it rechargeable if you were going to flatten it out though. The Apple one is, and the Surface one that I use is a AAA battery (no power switch). Both of those seemingly last forever, I don't know how long you can go if you forget to flick the switch off/on here.Perhaps my biggest gripe is the ability to customize keys -- more specifically, the ability to customize exactly SIX keys. Even that isn't entirely true. You can tweak settings for the FN key (does it default ON or OFF), and there's an "Expressive Key" that only offers three things: Expressive (same as the WINKEY + PERIOD shortcut for emojis etc), an Office Key, and Application Key. By comparison, there are four keys at the top (F5-F8) that you can change so many more thing on, even setting up a macro key combo if you want. I just don't understand why this option isn't give to the Expressive key to let me do what I want with it. Or even let me make it another Windows key or update the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center to allow for it to become a CoPilot shortcut like the new Surface keyboard (and most newer laptops) are doing.Yes, I use the "Expressive" menu/options/emojis regularly, but I don't need a single key for it. I've developed a muscle memory for WIN+PERIOD(.) at this point. I'm good. But that's probably not a reason for most NOT to pick this keyboard up. It's still a great little keyboard. Ultimately, I'm going to spend the extra $80 and pick up the Surface 2nd Edition. Yes, it means I'll still need another keyboard for my Mac, but I'm okay with that.

It saved me from carpal tunnel problems

My physical therapist suggested I look for a keyboard with a separate number pad that I could use only when needed, so that I don't have to hold my arm out at an awkward angle to use a mouse. It came down to this one or the Logitech. I am a big fan of Logitech products, but their compact keyboard didn't have dedicated home, end, page up and page down keys, which I use often. I've had it for more than two years now and just today had to change the batteries. Unlike many of the 1-star reviewers, none of the keys' letters have worn off even slightly,. I turn the keyboard off when I shut down my computer, and after I restart the computer, the key board starts up again immediately after I turn it on. The very few times it hasn't, it's no problem to reconnect it. People who don't like typing on laptops won't like this keyboard, but I appreciate the low profile and quiet operation. I don't know how to account for the huge difference between my experience and those who gave it 1 star, but I like it so much that after Microsoft stopped making peripherals I bought another one to ensure I'll have one if something happens to this one. My wrist and arm are in good shape despite constant computer use, and increased desk space is a bonus.

I paid 70, but not even worth the 30 dollars it currently is priced at.

Seemed like a perfectly constructed keyboard when I first purchased it. However...Materials:After a short time, within a month or two the finish began to rub off of the keys most used. Check the photo included.Pairing:Once paired it seemed to work fine for a while but then now and then it would need to be repaired. Now for some reason, it refuses to pair on channel 1, channel one appears locked. I unlocked the Fn key to ensure that was not the issue. It was time to get a new PC so, I built a new PC to rule out the PC of course. Same issue, not pairing. I had this paired to my Main PC, a Macbook Pro, and a Samsung S7+ tablet.Battery Life:I purchased the unit in late October and the low battery warning at 25% came on within 2 months and hit 0% at 8 months. I realize that math does not make sense. To note that brand new the battery showed 50% as did the replacement batteries that were put in about a month ago as I type, on my new Logitech K380.There does not seem to be a way to reset or clear the pairing channels. I took the batteries out and turned it off and on, it still would not pair. Microsoft support is not helpful.I would NOT recommend purchasing this keyboard since the box of 2032 3V lithium batteries I bought specifically for this keyboard outlasted the keyboard.

Bluetooth keyboard

Excellent wireless keyboard. I can control my laptop from my bed as my laptop is hardwired to my TV and stereo. Very easy to type on. Small I compact with great battery life.

Pretty nice keyboard, but some downsides.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Well-made keyboard, but the battery system is quite awkward. Also, the presence of useless keys (like the emoji key? OMG...) is a downside.
