Outdoor Recreation Enrichment for a Lifetime Review: Five Stars - book needed for school. it arrived fast just what was needed Review: Informative, but potentially painful-to-read textbook - To be fair, I didn't get close to reading every chapter. (Obviously purchased it for a class). What I did read, however, was thorough, smoothly-written, and easy-to-understand. The authors are clearly passionate about the subject. The information is highly-detailed, which may or may not be a pleasant thing for you, and there's a lot of it. I found it only a little tedious or excessive in certain places. There is a lot of text, but it is broken up either by figures or photos, and the photos can really be very nice. A myriad of studies are quoted and used. I think the textbook had a balanced mix of theoretical and practical information, but it might have been more theoretical in some ways. I think your enjoyment of this textbook depends mostly on how interested you are in the topic. I am not a natural resources major, but I enjoyed the sections on the psychology, history, and societal implications of outdoor recreation. The explanation of government-owned versus privately-owned recreation facilities was a bit dry, as were other, more practical-centered places. If you are considering buying this book out of interest in the subject and not for a class, make sure you are VERY interested. If that's the case, there is a lot to learn, and it's easy to digest. Otherwise, good luck with your class!
