My husband uses this for his beard. We’ve purchased it several times and have it on subscribe. He likes his beard on the neater side and has trained it to be kind of smooth. I absolutely love the smell of this. I want to eat him up every time he kisses me goodbye in the morning. You can’t smell it from a normal distance and I don’t think the scent is lasting all day or anything but it’s kind of an extra bonus for a really nice beard wax that works well. He can also make his mustache come to a point with this (I don’t know what it’s called but think of Salvador Dali). Not the usual way he wears it but he’s experimented with that and it did work. I do touch his beard a lot and it always feels nice. It doesn’t feel waxy or weird at all and I can still run my fingers through it. It feels smooth and conditioned like a beard should. I commend this company for getting it right! Also, this lasts him a long time. I will say though, he has wiped his hands on our towels a few times without washing them well under water with soap after using this and the wax gets on the towel- so don’t do that unless you change your towels every day. It comes out easily in the wash. PS I love him so much. He’s my soulmate and we’ve been married for 40 years. ❤️

Great quality. Just make sure you really work it into your beard or it will bead up. Definitely gives you a good professional shine. You’ll often get compliments. The scent isn’t overpowering either. Subtle enough.

The Belle Isle beard butter arrived today. The product had leaked and was all over the exterior. The seal inside the cover seemed intact so I'm not sure how this happened. The weather here was in the high 40s so it wasn't extremely hot. After opening the product, whatever scent was present was difficult to detect. That is to say, it didn't smell anything like expected. I had read other reviews that said the scent lasted all day. Hard to imagine when it doesn't even smell in the container. I'll update once I try it for a bit. This product is expensive enough per ounce, so the mere fact that a fair amount of the product had leaked out is disappointing. Once again, I'll have to update this review in terms of the actual product once I have the chance to use it. Addendum: I wrote directly to the manufacturer via email and they replied that same evening. They apologized for the experience and offered to replace it without any hesitation. It took 11 days to arrive and was intact thus time. The scent is still very subtle, which is somewhat disappointing. What I can smell is pleasant. The product itself, in terms of how it makes my medium length beard feel, is very good. It melt to a very smooth consistency and is very easy to apply. It makes my beard feel very soft for the couple if weeks I've been using it for now. I think the company did a great job with their customer service, and the weak scent not withstanding, this product delivers on its promise to be a good moisturizer for mens beards. Updating to 4 stars (minus 1 for the scent).

Glad I took a chance on this beard butter. Smells great and goes on smooth not heavy. Lasts all day

I liked the scent, though it is a bit "sweet" for my wife. The texture is thinner than another butter I tried which I liked as well as it didn't literally feel like you were smearing grease on your face. However, for me (just me here) this didn't accomplish what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for strong control and thankfully this doesn't make my beard stiff like a wax. I was hoping to get lasting moisture and softness to the beard that would last all day. I didn't get more moisture than I get from beard oil to the skin and the softness impact was minimal. It just didn't add much to the routine that the beard oil I already had was giving me. Still have issues later in the day with brittle hairs and tight skin. Returned it.

I’ve tried various beard butters and Detroit Grooming’s Belle Isle is absolutely the best. The fragrance is not overpowering, but very pleasant. It softens and nourishes the beard without leaving a greasy feeling on the beard. I’m sold!

Feels so smooth you wanna put it all over your body. Smells so nice and natural, very high quality you can easily tell.

Very nice and workable product, melts well in the plan for application. There are very nice smells of tobacco and vanilla but yhw cedar is not spicwy like cedar should be. There is a overwhelming smell of something like honey suckle or some perfume like smell that is very off putting. Sadly I have tried it on my beard once and the smell was so string I cannot use it again. Without the perfume overtone it would smell awesome, sadly it takes over and ruins the quality of the product. I bought based on all the positive reviews, but the smell isn't man-ly at all and my most important critic - the wife said nope nope nope. Sorry guys this one struck out for me.
