Motherwell Products MWL-151B 6-inch Solo Luggage Rack - Black

This was exactly what I pictured in my head when I started thinking about getting a rack for my FLSS. I looked into the H-D detachable solo rack, but had sticker shock when I found out on top of the $199.00 price tag for the rack, you would need to buy the docking hardware (another $60), and also a turn signal/license plate relocation kit (another $100.00 or so) plus the time and frustration of moving said turn signals and license plate. I like the way it looks, and didn't want them moved. Yeah, I could have used it for a sissy bar, but I'm not planning on rolling with a passenger anytime soon. So I found this rack on Amazon, and viola, utilizes the seat pillion and rider seat bolt holes to mount, no moving anything. What comes in the box? The rack itself, which is a flat/matte finish, compliments my bike well. You get two Torx bolts, two plastic and two stainless washers, plus the foam padding for the two points where the rack contacts the fender. What isn't included, and you will need to supply is the seat bolt hardware and C-Clip to hold it in place. The Mustang solo seat I bought recently happened to have one included, so I didn't have to purchase this, but I think it's a $5 part. Install was easy, and took about 5 min. Functions well, and perfect for keeping my small roll bag off the paint. Update: 11/12/16: after a few thousand miles and a couple removals and re installations to wash my bike, the foam protection for where the rear part of the rack contacts the fender has mostly disintegrated, and will allow the rack to scratch your fender. I managed to catch it before it scratched my fender up, and solved the problem with punching a hole in some non slip rubber that goes on handlebar accessory mounts. See last picture for reference.

Perfect! I love the clean lines of the Slim and think saddle bags would take that away, with the solo rack, it really fits the look of the bike and keeps the clean lines that I love. I purchased a small T-Bag and strapped it down..will work great for overnight trips, rain suite, etc. SUPER easy to install! Follow directions and you'll have it on in less then 10 minutes. I am not a handy girl AT ALL but this was a breeze. The only part you will need to purchase separate is a retaining bolt/clip to go under the fender that the screw on the back goes into. I ran down to the local HD store and it was less then $4. GREAT product.

Easy to install - 5 minutes max. Needed to purchase fender bolt to replace the plastic cap on back of fender. Minimalistic which was what I was looking for, sturdy steel construction. Nice price.

An alternative to a $300 OEM detachable rack system for light loading. Rack fit and functioned as described. Fabrication and welding was satisfactory. Easy install with supplied screws and washers (4 stars) into existing seat mount nuts. As noted in other reviews, the matte black finish is thin. Would have preferred a chrome or gloss black choice and a more durable finish. The rack has a published weight limit and it is recommended to follow this limit unless willing to beef up the mounting with more than 2 seat screws. A large tail bag was strapped onto the rack during a recent 1,200 km trip. The rack rocked on the screws under the weight of the bag. Had to check and tighten the screws throughout the trip. Now use the OEM pillion to support heavier bags and have returned to using the rack for a small tail bag or backpack for daily and 24 hour rides, avoiding a repeat. 3 stars given for the finish otherwise would have received 4 or 5.

Awsome.. Though I had to make a small adjustment.. (Re-Drilling the hole to better fit my Motorcycle).. it worked well 2015 Harley Davidson Street Bob.

For mine and the price, I'm disappointed in the quality.....with that said, after drilling out the rack seat flange hole bigger, it did my 2016 Street Bob.....but the quality of the rack is questionable....many pin size like dimples throughout the iron work of the rack, even the black powder coating did little to hide them, may be prior to painting the raw iron rusted causing pits, just a guess. If there's a next time I would go with chrome. All hardware included was all used.

I have a 2014 softail slim and I am obsessed I keep it on it looks perfect on my bike. Held my bag great as we drove through Tennessee!

Good quality but rocks from side to side with load on it but follows fender well and works well for being small.
