You will not be disappointed! I am relatively new to woodworking and have been curious about working with exotics. However, I didn’t want to spend a ton on a couple boards of one or two types. Enter this box of cutoffs from Evergreen Forest Products Inc. I have received a couple boxes from them and all I can say is WOW! As you can see in the pictures, all pieces are exotics, each more beautiful than the next. My boxes have included Darina, Greenheart, Ipe, Mora, Purpleheart, Wallaba, Wamara, as well as Teak and Snakewood (although they said these two types are not usually put in boxes - so I got lucky!). At least one piece of each type is clearly labeled, which was something other companies I purchased a box from did not do. 95% of the pieces were square, surfaced, and defect free. I specifically requested larger pieces and they certainly were. They were larger than I expected actually. Sizes ranged from 5 3/8 in. x 5 1/8 in. to 12 in. x 5.5 in. Thickness was generally an inch. That being said, don’t expect your box to be the same as the types and sizes will vary week to week. So be sure to contact the seller directly to see what might be included in your box the week of your purchase! Evergreen Forest Products Inc. was great to work with. They generally responded to my messages within 24 hrs, were very flexible, and worked with me to make sure my box was as close to what I wanted as possible. IF YOU DO NOT CONTACT THE SELLER BEFORE PURCHASING, DO NOT EXPECT YOUR EXPERIENCE TO BE THE SAME. I 100% recommend this box to anyone and will definitely purchase from them again! Note that the above review is for my purchase from Evergreen Forest Products Inc. But notice that multiple companies sell this product. So simply adding this to your cart will mean you are purchasing from the default company. I have no way to confirm this, but the default company may vary by your location and when you purchase. Each seller has access to different types of wood. I have purchased a box from Evergreen Forest Products Inc. and WoodChuck’s Wood. The box I received from the former included 100% exotics, mainly from South America, while the latter included 100% US domestics like Ash, Cedar, Oak, and Walnut. I know WoodChuck’s Wood can also have Cherry, Maple, and Elm. So make sure you contact each seller individually to see what they have in stock BEFORE PURCHASING. There are quite a few negative reviews here and I have a hunch it is because the person did not talk with the seller before purchasing. You can’t really be mad about what you received if you left it up to chance...

I have purchased several boxes and the selection of wood is great for my small projects. Like the wood coaster shown in the photo. Update: After receiving several boxes shipped from Wisconsin, I received two shipped from another location. These contained thick pieces that I can’t use. These were disappointing.

Finally i got my package it was at the post office, Due to the courier misplacing it, NOT the sellers fault AT ALL. However the 4 different types of wood, all basic common woods...The pieces I did get were nice, but not a variety of pieces as shown. Cut quality great, sizes are perfect and coloring of the wood is nice. It's figured very well but I ordered due to the "manyy species" and out of all the pieces there I got 4 rather common basic woods. Maybe i got screwed, no quarrel with the quality of their product, in fact it was very good quality but the MANY SPECIES part is the reason I bought and therefore the lack of such is why i have rated this as I did. (Obviously the last photo I added was the promotional photo for the sales not mine.)

No variety in either size nor quality nor type. It's the very definition of scrap wood, all the same color, some with knots, some with holes where knots came out.

Amazingly packed box and some very elegant pieces of wood. Each piece was marked as to the species and cut nicely. I was skeptical at first when I ordered 'cut offs' however, I am very impressed. I can't wait to embark (no pun intended) on my first small exotic hard wood project. Thank you - I believe I will be back to order again. The company should be proud of their team. Well done.

Disappointed with the assortment. Box was full and wood looks mostly ok, but all very basic, nothing exotic. If you are hoping for something unique, this is not the box to go with--waste of money. I rarely leave reviews, but felt a little swindled with this purchase.

I saw the seller only had 3 boxes left, so I bought all 3. When I sorted all the pieces, about 60-70% were the same species. Some had wane, knots, and assorted defects. None were labeled. Not what I expected.

I’ve ordered a variety of boxes from Woodchucks and every buy was a good one. I see negative reviews but you won’t get a better deal anywhere. If you want a full box of purple heart and walnut this box isn’t for you. If you like a box of variety to work with you’ll be pleased...and as I said...the boxes are full and the price is great. You know the line...’how much wood could a Woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood’ Here you got it..A big damn box full for about $20 chucks!!

I wasn’t sure about this purchase as the reviews were mixed. I’m happy with it. The box is full and the pieces are quite nice. There’s a couple of pieces that have knots and I think there’s a beauty to that and I can make something of it. That said, I wouldn’t want a box full of “knoty” pieces, but this was a very good box!
