The Man and His Music

Utterly brilliant. The range and variety was just a pleasure to listen to. A Change is Gonna Come rightly has its place in the Hall of Fame. I'm not a religious person but Sam makes gospel easy to listen to. Can't recommend this album highly enough.

Arrived as expected in good condition

Good time music..... I've always loved Sam Cooke's music, which I discovered 40 years ago (makes me feel old....) back then I bought the "This is Sam Cooke" RCA double album, which I still have now. Later, I had "The man and his music" on a cassette, which over the years, got lost, so I replaced it with this disc. Most of the favourites are here, i like " Twistin the night away" and "Good Times". Shame that "Summertime" is not included, but I have another great compilation "Portrait of a legend" which has this track on there. Thinking about getting Sam's box set with various albums, might yet treat myself to it, but this disc and "Legend" will cover most listener's requirements.

Great selection of tunes. Amazing voice.

Just lovely. Sam Cooke was so influential, and listening to this you can hear why. His voice is smooth as silk, it's just a shame we never got to hear it develop with age (stupid brothel keeper). Today's warblers and noodlers would do well to listen to this and learn about taking a note (just the one, you know, the right one), and making it sound lovely. I'm getting angry at the thought of them now. I need to put Sam on... ahh, better.

My late brother had this in his record collection, it was one of the fewer records of his I truly liked.Sam has the voice of an angel and makes the world feel a better place. This collection is quite hard to find now so I was surprised and delighted to find it here.For anyone who doesn't know Sam's work this is a lovely place to start.
