Berkley x9 Braid Fishing Line

The Berkeley X9 is fantastic braid for larger fish. It's 9 strands of braided line so it's a bit thicker but that's probably the only downside to this braided line. There is a bit of stretch to the line but no kinking at all. I also had no need to work the line enough so it would sit right on the spool of my reel. The other thing I noticed is that it didn't burn out my eyelets on my non braided fishing poles like normal braid does. But the biggest deal for me was that it was incredibly strong. Another positive is, I got about 10- 20 yards more out of my cast. I recommend this product. It's definitely worth the value.

I'm a 51 yo disabled veteran not married no kids and live a five minute walk from 3 different beaches.So needless to say I fish ALOT!!! I LIKE TRYING EVERY TYPE OF LINE CHEAP, EXPENSIVE YOU NAME IT in this x9 was pretty much the last line I've ever tried that's on the market LOL I really do like it my go-to is Daiwa jbraid grand as far as casting distance, smoothness, tensile strength etc. I do have to say this is right up there with it!!

I prefer Daiwa J braid but the cost is more than this braid. Wanted to try something new. So far I like it. It is not as smooth as the Daiwa J Braid but it is very smooth. You get more line for the money with Berkley X9 Braid. Didn't have any color rub off when spooling up like some cheap braids. Bought 30lb for top water and texas rigs. So far really like the braid would buy again.

I needed to reline my reel and chose this line for the task. I was very pleased to see that I was able to cast farther than what I could achieve with the previous line that I used. I probably achieved 10' to 15' more distance due to the smooth release from the reel and transit through the rod. Great line. Very pleased.

At .25mm you can't beat this line for trolling with lead slide weights. It ties great knots

While the x9 braid I got is rated at 40 lb, its listed that its max break is 59 lbs. I tied the braid to an 80 lb copolymer leader with a 10 turn FG knot. On the leader I made a Kreh loop knot. I looped the braid end on a metal post a few times to simulate a reel and pulled on the loop with a spring scale to simulate a fish. The setup broke at the FG knot (its supposed to) within the turns in the knot @42 lbs (71 % of 59 pounds). There are some knot tests that rate FG knots at 80% of max break.Oh well. It broke beyond its stated rating.Good stuff. I would think the weak part of the reel, rod, and line setup now is the rod, if one is not careful.

This is very castable line and it feels thinner than other 20lb test braid.

This 10lb line is so thin I can't believe it's a 10lb test line.
