A Return to The Sounds of Maine
Having lived in Maine for 9 years and transplanting to Washington State, the thing I miss the most are the rustic scenery and sounds of the coastline. I knew the beautiful quality of these Buoy Bells by North Country since I already have the 3 tone Bar Harbor Buoy Bell, and have always loved it, about 20 yrs now. The subtle haunting, deep monotone bong and the subtle continuing echo sound that remains, of the Nantucket Bell is even more relaxing, A real reminder of days of sailing (sound of the rigging) and visiting the island of Nantucket and New England's waters in general. Makes me homesick. I am so pleased with my purchase. The triangle wind catcher's corners actually grab light breezes better than the heavier decretive ones, so the gong sounds off even with a minimal breeze. I highly recommend this Buoy Bell. I bought several as Christmas gifts this year and all love them. Great gifts!

Nantucket Bell
I love the sound. I had one years ago and left it when I moved. I'm happy to have my Nantucket Bell back. It's very heavy so it take a very high wind to chime, so the neighbors can't complain about the noise. It's a beautiful piece and I'm happy to have the bells back.

North Bells Nantucket Wind Chime review
Beautiful, rich tone in a wind chime. The wind chime is very well constructed and supurbly engineered

Really nice, but only for a very open yard with lots of wind.
The media could not be loaded. First, craftsmanship is really nice with this bell. It's very nice looking, and when it does make sound, it's excellent, but relatively quiet. However, it seems to take a lot of wind to make it work. I have tried 4 areas in my yard, longer rope to hang it, etc.. And I've heard this bell go off maybe 5 times in the 5 days I've had it.I'm sitting outside right now, in fact, and it's 12 to 18mph sustained wind, the bell is hanging by a 3 foot rope, to the chain, wind is hitting it directly, and it still barely makes a sound. I have the triangle wind catcher and it just doesn't seem to move.(update, as I was writing this review, a very strong gust hit, maybe a sudden 20 to 25mph gust, which finally moved the wind catcher enough to make the bell work well for about 10 seconds).I've attached a video, in the video, wind is coming from the north directly towards the bell. It's a fresh breeze. And you can hear the bell, but it's very very quiet. And I think most of the sound in the video, is actually from the branch moving more than the wind catcher.I did read some tips about how to help the bell work better, including the longer rope, but it doesn't seem to matter in my situation.Unfortunately, for me, I feel like this was waste of money. Not because of craftsmanship, quality, or looks , but because it just doesn't work for me.Overall, if you have an area to hang your bell where it is always in prevailing winds, and you're getting 15 to 25mph gusts, then it would probably work well for you. It's a very nice piece with a very pleasant sound overall. It's just, use caution if you don't have wide open space to hang it.

Really awesome bell
Reminiscent of harbors and living by the bay. Can take the wind catcher off in storms to reduce noise. Love this bell!

This bell is giant and sounds great
This bell is giant and sounds great! My mother loved it, sure brought back some memories for us as we had a smaller one hanging from our front porch when I was growing up. Great gift for New Englanders!

It has some volume
First off I am pleased with purchasing this wind chime. It has a great look in our yard. The bell tone is on the lower side. More of a bong instead of a ting. When the wind is strong it is loud. I could hear it in the house through a closed window and it is hung about 25 feet from the house. I was able to manage that some by shortening the chain length. I did not have to cut it. I just hung the wind catcher on a lower link in the chain. The other thing to consider for this item, it is fairly large. Not a problem for us but the overall 30 inch length may be too big for some people.

Mom loves her new chimes!
These can get a little loud if hung near an area of gathering. These are probably best hung out in a yard from a limb in a tree or other suitable area where the beautiful sound can be enjoyed at a distance. I had hung them on the back porch and it was a little much when those central Texas winds kick up.
