When I opened Mine up. I was stunned at first too it was air tight. But I smooth it out and left it. it was plump within several hours. Maybe you might need to exchange it. I love mine. Helps my Acid reflux. My Pregnancy and post party moved. Pregnancy. As well as the elevation of legs. It can be used for anything. You can flip it up to sit up in the bed too.
