Works well. Pretty customizable schedule.
I'll tell you, the first time you start and stop your sprinklers from inside your house using your phone is a real kick. I decided to try one of these out, because I'm tired of spending the better part of a day moving the hose around the lawn to get good coverage. I started in the back yard, laying hose and putting out 3 Hunter bodies with MP Rotator heads. Then I connected them to this BTT timer, and it works like a charm. Now, I can water at ideal times of day without having to set the alarm clock for crazy time, and when it's time to overseed, it will be very easy to water for 10-15 minutes every morning with zero effort. It's like having a $3000 in ground system installed, but for a small fraction of the cost (although the sprinkler bodies and hoses are above ground - which makes them easier to maintain, so you decide if that is a plus or a minus for you). Bottom line, I'm happy and will be giving my front lawn and side yard the same treatment in the coming weeks, before the hot weather arrives. The app will connect to multiple timers. It also has a fair amount of flexibility for setting your scheduling, though it's not the most intuitive interface ever devised. However, if you are willing to dig through it, it can set a schedule based on days of the week, or on a cycle of days (water every 3 days for example, regardless of what day of the week it is). You can set up multiple run times during the day. You can set it to cycle periodically based on time rather than days (every 3 hours for example). You can also set it to cycle on and off over a defined window of time (run for 15 minutes, stop for 5, repeat, for two hours every morning for example). It rains often where I live (though accumulation is almost never adequate in a week) so this next feature is important: You can suspend the schedule for a selectable number of days. So if we get 1/2" of rain, I can suspend the schedule for 3 days, and it will return to it's normal program afterwards. Of course, you can run this manually, for a selectable period of time. You can also run it manually by physically pressing a button on the timer and it will run for an hour and shutoff automatically. There's probably more capability here, but that's what I've explored so far. A couple nice features in the interface: you can customize the name of each timer and for this model with two outlets, you can customize the name of each outlet (timer=back yard, zone 1=grass, zone 2=shrubs drip) and you can even add pictures to those zones so it's really easy to identify which area you are working with when programming. This does run on two AA batteries. I do not know what the battery life will be like, but after about 5 days running on rechargeables, they are down 2%, so you should have no problem getting a full season out of a set of batteries, especially if you aren't often connecting with the phone to fiddle with them. There are only a few minor things I'd like to see improve in the next generation of this product, or in future app updates: 1. I'd like the app to have a more intuitive design that uses a more plain language approach so that anybody can set their timers up without having to figure out what the different options mean. 2. I'd love to see a slightly more robust bluetooth transceiver on this. The range is limited. I believe the product says 30', but I lose connection about 20' away, and if I am inside, I need to be within about 10' to connect. I know this is a trade-off between battery life and range, but I'd be happy replacing the batteries every 2 months if I could sit on my recliner and connect to various timers on different sides of my house. Maybe another option would be to offer an accessory hub that plugs in somewhere in the house and can extend the signal reach. Overall, I'd say this is a major improvement over other programmable timers I've used, with more options and easier programming. Being able to suspend scheduling or manually water from inside the house is a godsend. Highly recommended.

Very well-made, solid tap timer with nice software features!
I bought two of these Hunter Tap Timers after carefully reading reviews and comparing them to competitor products. In almost all Tap Timers, failures eventually occur due to water infiltration into the electronics, or because of grit getting into the ball valve or solenoid. The Hunter BTT addresses these issues by removing the display and setup buttons typically found on competitor products, and moving everything to software on a smart phone, thereby keeping the main Tap Timer well-sealed. I did add a finer mesh screen at the inlet, since our local water has some sand issues, and I orient the device so the battery compartment is generally on the bottom (sheltered from rain and sprinkler water). Bluetooth is required, and it's an older Bluetooth, so limited to a working range of about 20 feet, but for most residential applications, that's fine. I'm able to stand at my kitchen sink, look out at the yard, and control my hose-driven sprinklers. The features in software include BTT battery level, signal strength, manual control override, and very precise "Run" (or "On") and "Soak" (or "Off") within a watering window, and this is great because it can help reduce run-off and over-watering. I set mine to have a daily primary window between 9 PM and 9:30 PM, running 3 days a week, but within that daily window it cycles 5 minutes "Run" and 5 minutes "Soak" for a total of 15 minutes of water. I drive each tap at about 60 PSI (with in-line flow regulators like those used for RV hookups), which is roughly 2.2 GPM based on garden hoses. Heading into fire season in California, I'm keeping the most critical trees and plantings alive on 429 gallons of water per month, or about 14 gallons per day per timer. (I have two timers, so about 29 gallons per day total. Math! Lol!) Prior to setting up the Hunter BTTs, we were averaging 90 gallons per day of total water use during the worst of the summer months. Using these schedules, we have reduced water use by 66% (two thirds!), and that helps everyone during the drought. One thing of note: The latest iOS (14.6) doesn't play well with the Hunter BTT app; the app tends to spontaneously abort and refuse to reconnect successfully. I'm hoping Hunter is updating the app soon, but in the meantime, I keep my old smartphone handy (iOS 12.5.3) for talking to old software in our house, and that works fine.

Finally a timer that doesn’t restrict water flow!
Edit: from 5 to 1 star. Lost virtually all pressure after 6 weeks. What a waste. Can’t even return it now. Avoid. Finally! A high quality drip irrigation timer that doesn’t RESTRICT water flow to unusable pressures like practically ever other Chinese POS available on Amazon. Also has a extremely easy to use interface making setup and flexibility a breeze. 6/5 good job Hunter!

Absolute Game Changer, Makes Watering Smarter, Easier, and Hands-Free!
The Hunter BTT Bluetooth Hose Timer is a total game-changer. I found out about it from my turf manager and grabbed one to run a soaker hose for arborvitaes during this drought. My client couldn’t get out to water, so I set this up, and it changed everything. Super simple to set up, it connects directly to your phone, and the app makes scheduling a breeze. I can adjust run times from anywhere, and it’s been flawless. If you manage properties, run irrigation systems, or want to make watering effortless, this is the one to get.

After one year of use…revising my review and buying more.
Some time after the previous review I reset the device to factory setting, completely erased/deleted the Hunter BTT app. and then tried again. After reinstalling the app and connecting to the device I find it to be perfectly responsive. Creating and adjusting watering schedules is easy and the performance has been consistently good. The Bluetooth range is still short but since I am not having issues adjusting the schedule and the performance is consistent I rarely need to connect to the device. I’m updating my review because I’m about to buy another one of these for my back yard. If I feel confident to invest a little more with hunter and trust a lot of plants to it then it has proven itself to me. I would suggest this to others. Would be five stars except bluetooth range and app design need improvement. It’s a remarkable difference than -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I disregarded the negative reviews. How bad could it be? I assumed I would set a schedule, adjust it every once in a while and carry on with life. Not so fast. The Bluetooth connection issue is real. You literally have to stand casual conversation distance from this controller to connect and maintain a connection. This issue persists while using a new updated and fully charged phone as well as a new, updated controller with a new battery. The biggest issue is the app. So make note of this. Even if you don’t feel like the Bluetooth connectivity issue is a deal breaker (it didn’t matter to me) you will come to find that is just a part of the problem. The app at first glance seems logical. You simply dial in start and stop times or if it’s a cyclical watering schedule select that option and choose from a wide variety of watering times. The problem is that there is no indication the device has accepted your input. Without consistency when I start the app or restart the app I will get a prompt to accept an update to the schedule. It appears that is when the device actually processes your watering schedule. There is no way to make this happen on command. There is no indication the device is processing your input, has disconnected, is finished, or has just wandered off. I’ve been using this controller for a few months now and no matter what process I use I can not trust it to work. I’ve entered times and waited. Entered times and restarted app. Restarted app with blue tooth on. Restarted app and turned Bluetooth off and on. Restarted phone. Etc. It will water sometimes and sometimes it won’t. Sometimes it will tell you the last time it watered. Sometimes it won’t. I just got back from a week long trip thinking I had figured this thing out that I had confirmation the controller accepted my instructions and was working as intended. It had not. This device works great as a dumb on off timer switch. Do not trust it to do more than that.

EASY SETUP! Reliable and solidly built.
This product does exactly what I needed and the setup and controls couldn't be simpler. It's fantastic and well built. I think the interface on the app is fine and really like the clean appearance of the device itself (it's not covered in buttons). The best feature is the flexibility in programming each zone through the app. The Bluetooth range is a little smaller than I expected (about a 15' to 20' radius), but not a big deal. Maybe on a device this expensive metal threads would have been more appropriate, but the plastic threads have held up well so far (just have to be careful with the hose connections).

Breaks easily
Less than one year and having changed on the outdoor faucet less that 4 times, the plastic connection started to fray which made the unit unable to screw into the faucet which makes this unit unusable.

Blue tooth technology NOT WIFI
I agree with many of the 1 star reviewers that you have to be right on top of the unit for your phone to connect via blue tooth. That being said I'm not sure it really matters whether you are 32 feet or 5 feet from the unit in order to connect. Does that save you about 10 steps? The blue tooth connection doesn't work through walls for me so even though my faucet is just outside my living room window I have to go out and stand in front of the unit to get a connection. I bought this because we went on vacation for a week and we had just planted some bushes that I wanted to be watered heavily during this dry spell we have been experiencing. I had no problem setting the device up and connecting my soaker hoses. Pressure was fine for those hoses. I had people check on the device and it watered the bushes as I programmed with no glitch. I gave this a 3 star review because it really does nothing much more than a manual timer. It is not designed to allow you to change the programming remotely (like you can with a smart device via WIFI). I'm not going anywhere else this summer because of the virus and I imagine that I will be looking for a smart wifi device next summer. I did not see any such device when I bought this 6 weeks ago at least not with high enough review ratings that would encourage me to buy it.
