People need to be educated.

A fictional story but prophetic
I liked Andy and some great actors in the film “The Swing vote” Amazon Prime. It is a fictional story but prophetic since Roe v. Wade is overtuned and a woman in Alabama is convicted of murder in the picture. The Pro-Life and Pro-Choice are well enunciated ,even though those two rights are not equal. The right to life is in U.S. Constitution and the Catholic Church holds that it is of the preeminent moral value. The Pro-Choice argument is weak when the convicted person claims to have aborted because it was her choice at that time; she was against abortion and wanted at a later date to have children when it was convenient. Life is not a matter of time or convenience. This film is prophetic because in was shown on TV April 1999. Next March 2022 the SCOTUS will hand a verdict on the Miss. 15-week abortion ban and Roe v. Roe could be overturned and abortion laws reverted back to the States.

States' Rights?
I watch about half of this horrible movie before giving up. Are Supreme Court justices really this stupid to not even consider real constitutional issues instead of just going by their feelings? I hope not. The core issue in this case should have been states' rights, yet this was never even discussed in the movie. What this movie portrays is how a high court would behave in a complete ideocracy where legal principles no longer apply.

A must see - especially in today's world
You have to see this movie - regardless of how you feel about abortion - the analysis of the decision is eloquent! My husband and I are on different sides of the argument and we both found appreciation in the thoughtful critical thinking. Attention all teachers: this film should be seen in the classroom.

A VERY FAIR AND BALANCED VIEW OF A COMPLEX ISSUE. QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST TV MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!
I WAITED 15 YEARS FOR THIS TO COME OUT ON VIDEO AND IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. ANDY GARCIA SHINED ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE CAST IN THIS WELL THOUGHT OUT, PROVOCATIVE CHARACTER DRAMA.

A Delicate Topic
This production represents (for me) one of the best treatments of a very delicate and controversial topic in the U.S., at that time (1999) and now. There are so many points of view from all sides of the argument that a complete presentation of all points of view would be difficult, if not impossible. This production, however, did as good a job as I have seen with this basic conflict of ideas and morals in our U.S. society and deserves much more recognition than it has received over the years. Perhaps if it were brought back in prime time TV and the hard liners on both sides were forced to watch it everyone would benefit greatly.

I had seen this drama some years ago and remembered just how good it was. I had to get a multi-region dvd player because it is only readily available in NTSC format. The film explores the debate about 'Rowe versus Wade' and abortion in the US. When a blockbuster film producer, in this case Jerry Bruckheimer, turns their hand to a more 'worthy' subject, they invariably bring a unique quality to it. A host of top notch US character actors make this a memorable film that exercises the mind even if you have not considered the issues in detail before.
