NEXTORCH Medical LED Pen Light with Pupil Gauge for Doctor Stethoscope Healthcare Nursing School Students Light with AAA Battery (Rechargeable K3RT)

I have been using the Dr. K3 for almost 2 years, and really like it. WAY better than some of the cruddy penlights I've seen used around the hospital. So when I misplaced my Dr. K3 I figured I should get a backup. I saw that this model, Dr. K3s was (a) about half the price of Dr. K3 and (b) at the time of purchase, it had a 25% coupon. Seemed like a no brainer. Look and feel: The K3s is smaller (shorter by about 5/8"), and definitely feels less substantial. It is convenient that it has the pupil sizes on the side, as opposed to the original which had a ruler on the side (also functional, just the little circles are faster to compare). The click on both is good. It feels more substantive on the K3--sounds cheaper on the K3s, but it could be that I've been using my K3 for a long time. At least on this version of the K3s, the button is loose and will definitely rattle around a bit. Ultimately, the clip is what would prevent me from using the new model as my penlight. It will probably work just fine, but the clip on the original K3 is so nice that there's no comparison. I contacted Nextorch to get the technical differences. K3 Output: 4 lumens Runtime: 15h Weight: 38.5g Water resistance: IPX7 K3s: Output: 2 lumens Runtime: 55h Weight: 19.4g Water resistance: IPX4 For me personally, I will continue to use the Dr. K3, but recognize that I am very particular about what lives in my scrub pocket. Minor details make a difference for me, and I would pay the extra for the nicer clip. (But it's nice to have a backup!)

I was looking for something light-weight and easy to turn on/off for my wife - and this fits the bill perfectly. Bright, circular beam with even light across the entire beam.

Bright is great for everything but I don’t like making people squirm when I check for PERRLA. I guess you don’t have to shine it directly into their eyeballs but I really wish it wasn’t so bright I totally dig it’s little size and how it clips to my pocket and stays there for my entire shift I’m sure I can look around and find some filters to decrease the brightness or change the color

Perfect brightness to get pupils to respond. Excellent light color that doesn't distort skin you need to look at. Small and durable! Best penlight available for healthcare.

I like the brightness of the light for pupil assessment. it does not flicker with movement.

Small compact and durable. I use this for rapid triage screenings. I’m getting older now and brighter light is a must. This is ok. The light casts a perfect circle of illumination on a posterior pharynx, and nothing more. So if exudate is beyond the “event horizon” you just can’t see it. No problem...just love the light. The light isn’t as bright as a light from my otoscope. It works just fine but I want a brighter light for my eyes. Will likely find another light until I get the real deal.

I have used many cheaper pen lights in nursing and really havent been WOWd. What could you expect from a penlight? I saw the Welch Alyn one for a funny amount of money and the bulbs apparently easily broke... this one, however, is solid. The price is just right, feels like good quality, uses AAA battery x1, not some random penny batteries, the light output isnt damaging, and the light border is defined and clear. Perfect tool to assess pupils and oral cavity. Love it

While not the thinnest pen light out there is is extremely bright for such a small thing. The whole thing is slightly shorter than a regular pen and maybe about one and a half times as thick. Still thin enough that it can be tucked into a pocket and not be noticeable. ♦ Weight wise (I weighted mine), a regular metal retractable pens weights about 18 grams, the light weighs 35 grams. So while being twice as heavy it's till not a brute. ♦ The attached wire clasp is strong and is made to easily slip over the material of a shirt or pant pocket. The three light modes can be made to stay on or only used momentarily, a nice feature to have. Each time the rear power button is depressed it activates the light. ♦ Press halfway and hold and then release for momentary use. ♦ Press till it clicks and the light stays on till the button is depressed again. ♦ Using the switch is super simple to use even with gloved hands. ♦ The four modes are - High Brightness - Mid-level - Low Light - Flashing. Every time the power button is pressed, either halfway or all of the way, it toggles through the modes. Being able to use a USB to USB C cable allows for recharging without the need to swap out batteries, something I really like. I find myself tossing out far to many dead alkaline cells and using individual rechargeable cells is also a pain. ♦ Simply unscrew the top section which houses the LED and plug in the cable, one is supplied. ♦ While connected to power there is an LED that lights up next to the USB C port, red while charging and green when complete. ♦ There is an O-ring sealing off the top section for moisture resistance. Overall this is a very good light and the only negative isn't a deal-breaker. When wearing gloves the light is a little slippery as there is no knurling nor are there any ribs on the barrel. It's an expensive light but well worth the investment.

I accidentally washed this NEXTORCH pen light with my uniform, the battery was dead, so I changed the battery and this NEXTORCH pen light turned back on imminently, as if nothing had happend. Working just as well now as it did a year ago, even after having it went through the wash. Incredibly impressed - the price definitely is justified by how durable the torch is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
