Good investment...
If quality sound is important to you, these stands do provide deeper soundstage, and finer resolution in the mid range, as claimed. I will also say the bass is slightly cleaner/tighter with more texture. I already had a pair of magical sounding floor speakers, but now they sound even better than before, so good investment for me. Yes, I'm using these for floorstanding speakers, which are 8 inches wide. My only request to the manufacturer is for them to make a pro pad version a little wider, like 9-10 inches wide, since the top layer on this model is more like 7.5 inches wide and not 8 inches as described in the manufacturer dimensions. I took off 1 star because the stands top layer is NOT 8 inches wide, as is described. The center piece, made out of mdf, where the emblem is located is 8" wide, but it's the top layer, which is what the speakers rest on....Note: There is a ProPad XL version listed at 13" wide by 19" long, for those looking for a much larger version, but it's pricey!**UPDATE** 5/30/17I have been really impressed with these stands after listening to lots of music, and movies. So mush so, I'm increasing my review to 5 STARS! BTW - match very good with Elac floor-standing speakers (easily handles the extra weight) in size and color..... Highly recommend!

Stay away...
I bought these back in 2013 and they are still in absolutely mint condition. I need it to purchase two more and I thought these would be the same as the ones that I purchased in 2013. I was very wrong. The quality is extremely poor on these. I should have read the recent reviews because they are valid. The glue on the rubber pads is falling apart and the vinyl piece that attaches to the phone was chipped around the corners. It was just extremely poor quality. I am not sure if this company has been bought over the years and obviously the quality isn't the same anymore. This company had an absolutely amazing product and somehow they managed to destroy the quality and reputation.

Great for my speakers
I had my speakers on some old built-ins and this was great for elevating them a bit and absorbing the vibration that would occasionally emanate from them. I have the matching sub one. It greatly improved the sound quality.

Makes a big difference in sound quality
These Auralex platforms are a great low-cost tweak to a sound system if you have any issues with unwanted resonance/rattling or with bass presence. I wasn't sure they were worth the money, but they are. They're sturdy and are clearly made with good-quality materials. My Monitor Audio speakers are on a hardwood floor, and the built-in bases didn't supply any sound dampening. The Auralex platforms eliminated the occasional resonance I'd get with some frequencies, which was what I was really looking for. What I didn't expect, but got, was an improvement in overall sound quality. The bass in particular sounds more focused and clearer than before.

Well made stands.
A well made, sturdy product. Has a rubber top over the wood base for the speaker to sit on while the foam bottom does what the proxy is suppose to do. Highly recommended.

Extremely poor quality product
Super disappointed that this is what Auralex is putting out. Aside from being unhappy from the damaged goods on arrival, it's clear that these are poorly constructed. Just a piece of particle board sandwiched with rubber and foam by way of a hot glue job done by a 5 year old. Even their own logo is haphazardly glued on.

Good for improving sound quality, Not so good for the price.
When spending roughly $130 for essentially 2 pieces of foam and some MDF, you'd expect that they'd at least be made well... These? Not so much. They do their job, but the QC is terrible. I got these new in the box, and I could swear that they look like they have been used before. The logos on the front are scratched badly, and the MDF is also scratched in some areas too. The top of these isolators have a dense foam/rubber mat glued to the top of the MDF boards, and one of mine is severly crooked, making it hard to line up my speaker with the isolator. It's also kind of irritating looking at it while it's so crooked. When it comes to sound quality improvements, these are very good. The differences aren't as pronounced as the manufacturer will lead you to believe, and CERTAINLY not worth the asking price. The bass is more controlled, making everything sound more natural. When it comes to midrange and treble, I hear zero difference.Bottom Line:If the QC was better, and they were plated in gold, MAYBE they'd be worth the $130 I paid for them
