Good for dogs that like to play in the dark in their own yard.
I wasn't sure what to expect but needed a bigger collar as our Irish Wolfhound Puppy had outgrown the collar we got at the local specialty pet food store. I knew we wanted durable, and if reflective that would be a bonus. The young lady is about 90 pounds and still growing.Although it looks like the collar may work similar to a choke-style, it is not. It does not tighten when the dog pulls on it. We had a AST before that could not use normal collars (such as this) and would slip out of them every time. If you have a dog with a similar shape, then I do not recommend anything less than a collar that tightens if the dog pulls on it. —That means, if your dog's neck is bigger than the head, or "cone-shaped", then you need a different collar that will allow for the tightening. There are very nice (and humane) collars available on the market for these types of dog-shapes.Additionally, I would highly recommend to those who are getting this collar to take their dogs on excursions in the dark, you would be much better off investing in a safety vest for your beloved dog, not a mere collar. A motorist would be hard-pressed to see any reflective collar if you allow your dog to roam free, so free-range doggies are unlikely to benefit from these either. However, if you just like the idea of easily spotting your dog in the dark as they play in your yard, this is perfect.Last thing to note for those considering this collar: if you are concerned about aesthetics, then choose a darker color. Dogs that spend time outside will get their collars dirty. This requires either washing, or just letting the collar get gross. Washing will fade dyes in any fabric over time, as does the UV rays from the sunshine outside. The brighter the color, the more noticeable the fade. Now, these are my personal observations for this particular Rogz Utility Extra Large 1-Inch Reflective Lumberjack Dog Collar:1) This is quite reflective. Tested that last night and found the refection to be surprisingly bright! The reflective threads are on the edges of the collar but when I shined the flashlight on her in the woods, the whole collar lights up as if it were one of those glow-necklaces the kids wear at Halloween. I LOVE that I can now easily find her in the woods at night. (She seems to delight in playing "hide & seek" like that sometimes.) The LED flashlight does provide much more reflection than the porch light does. As most headlights are of higher intensity these days and barring the fact she is unlikely to be out of the yard, I'm still quite satisfied with the reflection on this collar.2) I would qualify this collar as extremely durable. I would be surprised if our dog is ever able to break the collar. The way it winds around / attaches looks like the engineering eliminates any tugging/ pressure on the buckle. The material is thick and sturdy. I really like the way it is made as it reminds me of some of the custom collars a local individual makes and sells for high dollars at the specialty pet store.3) The plastic buckle seems to be of a high-quality, durable plastic. The way it is attached to the body of the collar is pretty much similar to other collars with buckles. These typically break after a number of years of hard use... that is to be expected (IMHO).4) I like that the buckle has a "safety" lock on it. That would make it more difficult for little ones to remove, and less likely for a smart dog to figure out how to pop the collar loose. (Yes, I've had dogs with that special ability.)5) I have no difficulty pressing the release tabs for the collar (as long as the safety is disengaged). This was important for me as I have minor nerve damage in one hand that hinders this type of dexterity. Even my 6-year old can work the collar's mechanisms with little difficulty. (I haven't explained the lock to her yet though ---hehehehe!)6) We got the purple collar and I really love the color. It is vibrant and looks fantastic, I'm hoping it lasts for a while. That said, I am realistic and know that colors will fade with time and use. Even though our dog spends the majority of her time inside (particularly in winter), this collar will get wet, muddy, be exposed to all types of weather, and the washing machine from time-to-time. I doubt it will have this like-new appearance forever. I doubt that is even possible, so to complain about the collar looking old in 8 months seems to be a bit trivial. If you have a dog that is likely to get their collar dirty, then I recommend a dark color.7) As far as fit... well, this is a very large collar. I suspect I should have gotten a size smaller, but I was thinking long-term / future adult-dog when I got this. The collar is quite long... surprisingly so. But I was able to adjust it down to fit snug but comfortable on her neck. She has worn it pretty consistently for about 3 weeks now and there has not been any loosing that I can tell.8) The other requirement that I had was that the collar didn't interfere with the other collar for her electric fencing. The previous "puppy" collar that she outgrew quickly, would sometimes slip beneath the other one and I was always nervous about it hindering the function of the electric device. (I know, we could just take it off, but the kids often don't do that... and I would prefer to keep the identifying collar on her in case the other breaks/malfunctions. The Rogz collar is thick enough that there is practically zero opportunity of the two collars to overlap! So, if you employ the use of electrical fencing to keep your dog contained to your yard outside (or near you with the remote ones), the Rogz collar will sit parallel to the electronic collar when your dog is outside. Yippie!I would recommend this collar for those large dogs with heads bigger than their necks.I wouldn't count on the reflective quality for emergency or safety purposes or if your dog has long, thick fur.I will try to remember to update this review if I find that my opinions have changed over time... THAT is entirely possible!~Happy New Year 2015!!~

Great dog Collars
The collars are bright, right size and the reflective strips on them really work, Please up date picture of collars to show that one small metal piece that used for charms or tag is not on the collar any more, it would of been a problem, but when the collars arrived it was not on the collar, so please up date picture of item.

Rogz Utility Extra Large 1-Inch Reflective Lumberjack Dog Collar
Preface:I have bought many a dog collar over the past 35 years. I have owned many large breed dogs as in Labrador Retrievers. Labradors are very active and playful dogs that love to run around, swim, roll, dig, play and have fun all the time. All of which wreaks havoc on the collars. My Lab(s) have 6+ acres to run around on and sometimes get out of sight, especially a night.Product Review: Rogz Utility Extra Large 1-Inch Reflective Lumberjack Dog Collar, Turquoise. Sold by Amazon.com LLC1.> I have found that this collar is by far the most versatile collar that I have ever used and/or purchased.2.> This collar has a "lock" feature that prevents the playful Labradors from removing each other's collars. Oh yes, they do that quite often and I must go out and hunt for the missing collars at night with a flash light.3.> This collar is a light reflective collar that no only helps others see that there is a dog around but, it help me see them playing hide and seek at night, plus if they do manage to pull their collars off, the reflective feature does make it easier to find in the night and even in the daytime.4.> This collar is light weight, very durable, easy on the dogs and extremely adjustable.5.> The collar fit is very comfortable for my Labradors and they apparently love the collars as much as my wife and I.In all, an excellent collar that I would highly recommend this product to any dog lover/owner of the large breed of canines.

Good quality collar, but not the best option for visibility
Overall, this is a good quality product, particularly for the price. We have two of these, one for each of our 60 lbs. pitties and they've held up to some serious pulling. My only issue is with the locking mechanism on the buckle. When locked, the buckle does not budge, which is great. However, the locking mechanism doesn't stay in the locked position. When I check their collars every few days, I continue to find that it has slipped back to the unlocked position. This hasn't caused any issue since the buckle does seem sturdy regardless of whether it's locked, but you should expect it to stay locked over time.Of note, the stitching is reflective, but only the stitching. I would not rely on it as your only visibility for walks at night: the stitches are just too small to make your dog highly visible. It helps, but it is inadequate on its own.

The BEST COLLAR!
These are awesome collars and very sturdy! I like the fact they have the reflective lines in them and that it has a lock and unlock button on the collar. This comes in handy with our new puppy. He plays with our adult dog and somehow manages to pull his collar off every time. Then he chews up the older dogs collar! If the button on these collars are positioned to the lock side they aren't going anywhere. This has not happened once since I have been making sure it's locked when it's on our adult dog. I will not buy another brand collar as long as these are on Amazon! They seem a little pricey but are well worth it! Another thing I'd like to share is if you have a large dog 80-105 get the XL collar...we originally tried the Lg with our adult dog (100lbs bluetick) and it fit but it had to be let all the way out and it was a lil snug...They do seem to run a little smaller then the size chart claims, but this does not sway me in the least bit about the quality of these collars.
