Such a rich, storytelling series
I loved this book. When I read "The Half Drowned King" it took a while for the story to really get going. But "The Sea Queen" just jumps right in and immediately had me hooked again. I was worried I had forgotten all the characters from the first book, since it had been about half a year or so since I read it, but once again, it wasn't a problem. The characters are all really memorable so I was able to immediately place them and remember them. I definitely recommend giving this series a go, I can't wait to read the next installment.

Good book in great condition.
For those who like to be able to read a good tale long told, read this 3 book series. Very engaging.

Quite the saga
The language, the pacing, and the characters are all reminscent of a great saga, and the author does a wonderful job recreating the time, the sensibilties and the action of the age. The author also did an excellent job with the details of medieval Scandinavian life, down to the food and chores of the day. The only detracting point is that story dragged a bit in places. It could have been slightly shorter.

Excellent series
I have been waiting excitedly for this book to come out ever since picking up the first one in the series! The author has created such a lush, detailed world to get lost in, and characters I have really come to love.

You need to get your hands on this trilogy
I can't urge you enough to start reading this trilogy. This book especially, (#2 in the series), I would say was my favorite. It dives deeper into the relationships already formed in the first book, and one of the lead characters, Svanhild, is just my favorite heroine of all time. Think Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Carribbean meets Daenerys Stormborn from Game of Thrones. Yes, she is that epic.Overall, I was really pleased with this series, and was absolutely devastated when I read the last page. Because it meant it was over. (Still grieving).Linnea, please grace us with another book or series soon!

Crisp, fast moving yet thoughtful and well-executed. Just as good as the first volume!
Crisp writing, historically accurate. Had been looking forward to this book for a year and it didn't disappoint. Sometimes I worry that writers will not be able to capture their opposite gender. Read the part about the sacrifice to the sea god...Ms. Hartsuyker got this right, and much else. Sorry to have to wait for volume three!!

Good read
Though the narrative started out a bit sluggish at first, it picked nicely in the second half. Mostly, l liked how the characters have developed, especially the tile character for this book. Can’t wait to see how the trilogy concludes in the next book.

Love this novel as much as the first one!
I read it as slowly as I could, to savor it and because I know I will have to wait for the next one. The atmosphere and "feeling" of the story strikes me as very authentically medieval Scandinavian...at least, what I think of as medieval Scandinavian based on the Kristin Lavransdotter stories and The Greenlanders by Jane Smiley. And the writing and the movement of the story is just wonderful. VERY highly recommended--I think this and The Half-Drowned King are my favorite novels I've read this year.
