Works and sounds great, great value, but slightly disappointing range
I’ve tried a few different Bluetooth receivers in this price range, and haven’t been super impressed. Decided to give this one a try and was extremely impressed. The sound quality was great (for Bluetooth), it is extremely quiet (most of my other ones have a fair bit of hiss and background noise), and I love that it has a hi/low gain switch and a volume knob. All the others ones I’ve tried are way too quiet - with the high gain and volume, I’m really able to boost the Bluetooth volume, while keeping the background noise super low, which is awesome. I don’t know how well the other inputs work, since I didn’t really need those. For the price, I’m extremely happy. My only two complaints, if you could call them that, are that the volume pot feels cheap (when turning it, you can tell it’s not a high quality potentiometer) and that I really wished I could connect multiple Bluetooth devices to it and use the input select switch to select between them. Instead, the input select only selects between Bluetooth, optical, and coax (and I’m never gonna use the optical and coax inputs). However, both of those are minor quibbles, especially for how much I paid. All in all, I’m super pleased, and will likely be buying a couple more for my other stereos. **update** I’ve been listening to it for a few days now and have a couple additional items I wanted to add to my review. 1) I continue to be incredibly impressed with the sound quality - it’s the best Bluetooth adapter I’ve heard, and, on the small stereo system I’m listening to (25 year old Sony receiver and Bose speakers, so hardly a hifi rig), practically indistinguishable from plugging directly in. 2) The big negative - the Bluetooth range is pretty poor. I was hoping that, with the antenna, the range would be increased. Unfortunately, that’s not really the case, and this really is limited to that 15 foot range of many Bluetooth devices. It seems they chose to emphasize sound quality over range, which I totally understand. I’m just a little disappointed I couldn’t have BOTH range and sound quality. To sum up, I think this little Bluetooth adapter is an amazing deal. I contemplated taking a star off (making it 4 out 5) for the disappointing range, but, for the price, really couldn’t justify that. For the money, it performs well above expectations, and for that I feel justified in giving it 5 out of 5 stars. Were I to have spent more than the $25-ish that I paid, though, I would have needed to see an increased range to continue justifying the 5 stars. All in all, highly recommended, especially for situations where sound quality is more important than range.

Works surprisingly well.
I bought this to be an easy alternative to the dingus dongle issue that plagues new phones like mine and my wife's; I have an android phone, she has an iPhone, and swapping those little dongles around without losing them in order to hook up to my kitchen's sound system gets to be a pain. And we lost hers, so...this thing. It's inexpensive, so my expectations were low; all I wanted was for it to work, and not need any kind of serious tweaking or maintenance. The good news is that it works perfectly; it was easy to set up and connect to, and fit the needs I bought it for perfectly. It's unobtrusive, seems to have good range, and I haven't had a problem with it since I plugged it in. It's not a perfect product; be aware that it uses USB power and doesn't have any kind of external power adapter or anything. I had a wall socket expansion adapter already in the spot where I went to use it that had two USB plugs for charging phones built into it, and that worked perfectly; just be aware that you're going to need something like that wherever you go to use this. The volume dial is also pretty spongy, it doesn't feel particularly solid and I'm a little worried that it'll break down the road. Otherwise, though, for the price it's a pretty good deal. I have it plugged into an Orb Mini-T amplifier connected to a pair of bookshelf speakers in my kitchen, and it works great and puts out a fair amount of volume. The sound isn't as clear as using the headphone jack, but it's close enough that it's not going to bother 90%+ of people out there. It connected simply to both my Samsung phone and my wife's iPhone; just plug it in, set the input to the first, and then use Bluetooth to pair the phone to "GVAudio" and it was set up and ready to go. The only thing to be aware of in that situation was that if we're both in the room, it'll only pair to one phone at a time, so you might need to disable/enable Bluetooth on one phone or the other to ensure the one you want is connected. Overall, I don't have any complaints about it. It's not a high end piece of equipment, so as long as your expectations are right for the price of it, it's a decent buy that'll get the job done.

Sound better than expected, Bluetooth works flawlessly
I wanted a quick and dirty wireless solution, but I wasn't really thinking about audio quality. However, the audio quality is pretty good! I thought this device would be really bad, but I was wrong, it's quick but not dirty. The only mistake I made was not turning the volume up when I set it up, because the output is variable and not fixed. I thought it was defective, but it just needs the volume knob turned up. Bluetooth setup was quick and flawless. The Bluetooth range is fine in my listening area and the connection is stable. This is a very basic DAC AMP, but it works nicely as a a headphone amp or Bluetooth connection to an amp. I hooked this up to an Arcam A19 and it sounded pretty good. I have better DACs, but this one was $25 and it sounds good, good enough until my wireless amp arrives. And it's wireless, that was the main feature I bought it for.

I bought two and one died after an hours use.
These are a good value for the money, but I bought 2 and one died quickly. Maybe something I did? I connected to my Dynaco tube amp to broadcast YouTube via bluetooth. High quality sound, and good volume control. Makes an audible sound when changing channels.

UPDATE - Stopped working after a month
UPDATE - I'm glad Amazon is having extended return periods because this DAC stopped working almost exactly one month after purchased. Well, not surprised as it is cheap. Good sound quality though. Original review. I'm a full time filmmaker and I wanted to have the audio from my computer to my audio system be interfaced via TosLink (call me an audio snob) to hear the best audio possible at 192kHz 24bits. For that I need a DAC to convert the digital TosLink signal in analog. My audio system does not take Digital input. DACs may cost several thousands of dollars for a high end DAC, which in my humble and tired ears is a bit much. A below $50 DAC is a hit and miss. There are some great budget DACs out there, but your audio preference, is your audio preference. It is like taste. Only you can evaluate it. This DAC does a great job for what it costs AND it has a gain on output which is great. My previous DAC sounded really good but I ended up not having enough power out as I needed because the output was really dimmed. I don't know for sure but a good 6 to 8 db lower. This one has a good output power. Close to my analog out. The volume is a nice touch and the bluetooth is yet a nice addition. The output power of the bluetooth is not as high as the Toslink but connection was easy. Now the sound. It does sound good, perhaps really good but not great. I will not spend the time to evaluate different genres of music and give a details review, mostly because how it sounds is very subjective of how your ears perceive sound. It is loyal to the source but I would not say High Fidelity. Sound, for me, is a bit harsh, but again for less than $50, it sounds really good. Overall great DAC for the price. Good buy

Way better than I expected...
I Purchased this for several reason actually... Best price I could find being the most important and having a front facing headphone jack with everything else in the rear... The bluetooth thing was a nice addition but I dont have a real need for it to be honest. I did connect my phone to it and test and no issues at all, connected fast. If the bluetooth would have allowed me to pump audio through it with the toslink at the same time I would have a use for it. There is a button on the front to pick 1/3 audio sources with the 3rd one being the coax. No need for it at all and no way to test. I want to pump sound out of my computer to my multitrack USB mixer so I can use my cans as headphones. For some reason when ever I send audio to my mixer on another channel while it pulls audio straight from channel 1/2 where my mic is pluged in it causes a conflict. Even though my mic is not fed into the mixer itself, I dont know windows 10 audio craps out. so this was DAC was my fix, I send the audio to the DAC via the Toslink and from the DAC to my mixer from the RCA to 1/4 into stereo channel 8/9 on my mixer. Huge Bonus: I have the rca connected to my mixer and I plugged in a headset to the DAC and both are playing... I did have to turn the gain on the DAC to high but to be fair these hadphones have 50mm drives! Huge shocker this thing has a metal case... WIN WIN... I would have liked a USB connector for the computer and not just a power port.I would have paid extra for that.

A no-brainer
This is a 24 bit,192 khz Cirrus Logic based DAC with Bluetooth 5.0, coaxial, and SPDIF/Toslink inputs with a gain switch and aluminum enclosure for $25. It’s just a no-brained for anyone needing to add bluetooth connectivity to an older system or wanting an outboard DAC in preference to the one embedded in a computer or phone. I haven’t compared this against more sophisticated DACs but this unit does sound good and gets the job done and functions as promised. It works and offers performance well above its price point. I use it in a secondary, office system with quality speakers and amplification. Especially since I use it for Bluetooth connectivity, it is perfect for this application. If I replace it with a more sophisticated DAC at some later point, I haven’t lost much. This unit performs well to my ear. I was skeptical given the specs for the price, but it does offer what it promises. While I would be curious to see how this measures compared to other basic DACS, subjectively it exceeds what its price suggests. I wasn’t expecting to find a DAC of this capacity at this price and I jumped on it when I did when the need arose. If nothing else, your can’t go wrong with this DAC, keeping it around for a second system or to inexpensively add Bluetooth to an older system.

Perfect exactly what I needed for backyard theater
We got this because we have outside speakers that are connected to a receiver. And we have a projector that has Bluetooth enabled. So we were hoping that we could Bluetooth our projector to this on a receiver so it play on our deck speakers. when we were setting up I was reading the instructions and it said it might not work with receivers. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that once we did connect it to our receiver, the Bluetooth was able to connect from the projector. So now we have a really good setup outback with the projector and screen and then the music coming from our deck speakers because of this. So I am very very happy with my purchase of this. it was very simple to put together and connect and the music coming through it is good sound quality I think. The digital cord that came with it didn't work for us but doing the red and white to red and white RCA cables worked. This doesn't take up much space. I did notice there was the slightest delay with the voice matching up with my projector. But it was very very slight like the words were lined up with what the people were saying but they were off by just a fraction of a second. We are happy.
