Just arrived. Larger than I thought which is good because it will accommodate larger whole fish with head, (that's good luck for Chinese.) Mine even came with TWO serving plates for some reason (which is even better). If I had to be picky, the thickness of the steel pot itself is a little thin IMO and has no cladded bottom, just thin standard grade stainless so it may discolor. That's common and no big deal as others have said. Just use a mild stainless abrasive cleaner if it bothers you. (i.e. Bar Keepers Friend, etc.) The stainless steel handles are pinch welded (not riveted) so it requires extra care. Please don't be rough with this steamer (not commercial grade at this price) or it won't last. However everything is made with good grade stainless, the stainless lift handles are wonderfully placed and well balanced, the stainless serving plate lift handles work great, and the lid fits tight, creating a perfect seal so it can steam faster. Overall we're very happy with it and I'm sure it will make steamed sea-bass perfectly! : )

Great for steaming jumbo snow crab legs. By using side cutters to cut each segment at the joint I was able to load two pounds of jumbo snow cab legs into the steamer and steam them on the stove top.

I have used this several times now for steaming fish, dim sum, buns, and it works. But lower your expectations and ignore some of the misleading information on the product page. The pot is quite thin, and even though the packaging says the bottom is thick, it definitely does not feel thick. It has a flimsy aluminum feel (best description and feel would be equivalent to a aluminum pan for pies). Brown black patches started forming after FIRST usage of steaming for dim sum, even though there was water in the pot. I have other stainless steel pots and pans in the house that doesn't do that even after years of usage. The packaging box has Chinese and English. Some of the misleading information on the product page that you should definitely not follow. 1. "Dishwasher safe, stainless steel parts oven safe to 500°F and glass lid to 350°F." - This product cannot even handle a gas stove while holding water. The pot was damaged with burnt black patches after using it for steaming ONCE. Definitely do not use in oven, and not in dishwasher. 2. "8Qt large capacity can cooking something large items such as roast turkey, complete big fish." - We used this for steaming fish, and it works. I definitely don't think you can use this pot for any other cooking methods other than steaming because it cannot even hold water and boil without doing any damage to the pot. 3. "The elliptical steamed fish pot,Steam Pot and Lid, Stainless Steel Steamerwith a thick stainless steel " and "★ Superior Quality" - The pot makes random banging noises when boiling water, my guess is probably from the metal expanding - every, single, time. Also, it is definitely not thick, rather, it feels flimsy. The only good thing is the size of the pot. It's perfect size for our needs (it fits two bowls side by side easily). But if I knew of the poor quality of this product, I would not have gotten it. This thing is definitely not worth $50. Also, be aware of at least two other sellers on Amazon selling this same product at almost 2x and 3x the price of this page: B077VLWH2P and B07W5P3GPP.

It’s light weight — definitely not All-Clad. But it’s wide and came with two plates for steaming. I was disappointed to find it’s not compatible with induction cooktops. I should have thought of that sooner. But a cheap induction plate under it will fix that.

This item is large enough steam in a reasonably sized fish, or whatever else you may want to steam. My knock on the product is the lid. In the first place, it appears to be made of glass and not a heat resistant material such as Pyrex. Secondly, it arrives with a hole bored in the center and the ring used to remove lid enclosed separately. You insert the threaded portion of the ring through the whole and attach the ring to the lid with an enclosed nut and washer. The problems, as I see them, are twofold: (1) The washer seems awfully small compared to the weight of the lid. I would not be a bit surprised if the lid cracked or broke if it was subjected to even a small amount of stress. (2) The ring used to remove the lid is not insulated. Therefore, if the lid gets hot you need to use some sort of a glove to remove it by using only your thumb and one or two fingers. If you’re not careful, the lid could slip through your fingers and shatter. I have a sauté pan with a glass lid and an insulated handle anchored to ends. Why the could not have incorporated that kind of handling that this product and will never understand. If this product holds up after a significant amount of use I may come back and raise the rating.

What a genius pot! I have a standard 30" gas stove with a center burner, that came with a griddle which I rarely use, but this pot fits the burner perfectly! And, the handles are offset (11:00 and 5:00) so it doesn't hit the back. As a bonus, it came with two platters, one for cooking and one for serving, or two for serving other items. Both functional and beautiful, and now I can utilize all five burners. Thank you for designing such a useful item for this type of stove!

Perfect vessel for steaming whole fish (up to 2 lb tai snapper, gutted and scaled, 9-11 minute cook, for example). Used it a dozen times and the vessel looks almost new. Some other reviews gave me pause before purchase, but it has worked out well for us and I wanted others to know that.

Perfect for making my steam fish! Amazing!!! Large and can fit one medium size fish. Cheap as it comes in bundle. Planning to buy just the plate.

I've used this twice and both times it's been great. Would be nice if it were slightly bigger (had to cut the head off the last fish) but it was a big fish. Definitely would recommend this product especially at the price.
