I recently encountered a rough idle and a P0402 code on my car, indicating a potential issue with the EGR valve, cleanliness, or sensor. Before delving into the more labor-intensive task of replacing the EGR valve, I opted to swap out the DPFE sensor first. To my relief, the new sensor was a perfect match to the OEM part and exhibited excellent quality. A word of advice for those attempting this fix: don’t forget to retain your original mount and transfer it to the new sensor. Neglecting this step could lead to improper grounding and trigger additional error codes. In summary, this DPFE sensor proved to be an outstanding replacement. It resolved the error code, allowing me to proceed with the smog check. Highly recommended for a hassle-free fix!

Fixes EGR code on Toyota

Same brand as OEM, just doesn’t have TOYOTA printed on it. Also cost is way less. Installed on my 2001 Tacoma 2.7. Located under the intake manifold, not an easy task. Took me 1 1/2 hours, professional could probably do it in a quarter of that time. My Blue Driver diagnostic dongle was correct, this was the defective part. It’s been months since installation without another CHECK ENGINE light. Super satisfied. If you’re not very mechanically inclined, I would recommend professional installation.

I own a 2004 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner with a 4 cylinder engine which had Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) / Check Engine Light (CEL) with the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected code. This part was an exact replacement for the OEM part. Removal and replacement of the part was pretty easy. Remove the electrical connector from the original valve (it's tight work as the valve is located under the intake valve) then remove the single philips head screw attaching the valve to the mounting bracket. I found it easier to remove the valve back toward the firewall paying attention to how the hoses are run and clamped. Replace the hoses on the new valve and carefully reinstall the valve back below the intake manifold just as when it was removed replacing the hoses in the clamps where they were removed from. Secure the valve in its mounting clamp with the previously removed philips head screw then reattach the electrical connector. Start to finish should take you no more than 1 hour if you take your time. There is nothing difficult about the task other than there isn't much space to work within. I checked/tested the original valve after I removed it and it checked good both electrically and functionally using a vacuum pump. The CEL went out after the second engine cycle as stated in the DTC troubleshooting guide and has not returned. Go figure ;-)

The part was a perfect fit, the engine design by Toyota was the challenge. It would really help to have smaller hands to do this job quicker. Solved the check engine light right away.
