Gets It Done
It’s not fancy, but it is what it is. I like that the board is small enough to fit inside the box without the fold you see on many game boards; that would have ruined the feel for sure. The planchette is cheap plastic, but I think it’s fitting for the price and also for the camp appeal of an inexpensive, mass-produced board game that is supposed to put you in communication with the spirit world. There are no instructions or other material inside the box apart from the board and the planchette, unless you count the lightweight cardboard tray keeps them in place. Everything the manufacturer wants to tell you about your new Ouija board is communicated on the outside of the box. The spin is a lot more “magic 8 ball, fun at tween sleepovers” than “open a portal to another dimension and summon supernatural entities”. Still, I wasn’t able to find any mention of the product on Hasbro’s website. It simply wasn’t there, rubbing elbows with Scattergories and Peppa Pig Monopoly. Mind, this is the same site where they have Risk and something called The Lie Detector Adult Party Game, for ages 16+. I noticed the age recommendation on the Ouija board’s box is 8+, which sounds about right if they are hoping to spawn a ‘Paranormal Activity’ reboot. Game play was pretty exciting! I set it up and played alone while I waited out an excruciatingly long antivirus update on my computer. In no time I had a compelling message from the beyond: “P-R-_”, the third spin landing on a featureless blank area of the board. Encouraged, I kept playing. The wealth of insight and wisdom coming through the oracle was truly astounding, evinced by such proclamations as “L-T-Yes-Moon” and “B-R-9-M-Q-F-H-D-4”. Fresh off that towering success, next I tried to meet someone. I was hoping for H.P. Lovecraft, Aleister Crowley, or maybe even Sorrell Booke, but instead I communicated with an entity I believe to be a manifestation of Ellen Burstyn, who is still alive. She had plenty to say about the back injury she suffered while filming ‘The Exorcist’. All in all, this has been a great game so far, and I wouldn’t hesitate to trust its input while making important life decisions, like whether I should move to Indiana, take up snorkeling, or try the new sugar-free incarnation of my favorite citrus soda.

Sometimes a conjuring. Sometimes a nonjuring.
This is from Hasbro, the people who bring you Sorry! & Guess Who? & Operation, so don't go in thinking it was, like, made in a cemetery while someone read the Necronomicon out loud or something, grain of salt. The planchette is basic plastic. The board isn't thick but holds up well; the planchette moves fine. $35 is a little steep for something this basic tho, there are cooler ones out there this price or less. First time I played this with a friend on Halloween night we conjured a spirit named Woo who indicated no when we asked it if it wanted to communicate with us. This friend died (no one is blaming the Hasbro ouija board...) the following Feb. & I hadn't played with the board since, so this Halloween, my other friend & I tried to conjure her spirit. And then eventually any spirit. And then eventually anything that had any kind of energy. Unless the spirit's name was the bottom half of a W that never moved, the conjuring was more of a nonjuring. Can't fault a game board for not always wanting to be open to the spiritual realm; it can still be fun with the lights out & lit candles. I don't really believe in any of this stuff but I always do a little simple non-denominational blessing before we start, inviting only spirits who want to communicate & who wish no harm. Just in case; a possession is the last thing I need right now.

GREAT STURDY BOOARD BUT MINE ARRIVED USED AND DAMAGED
My board arrived today and $10 is an amazing price. The board is heavy and well made. For those reasons I am giving it 5 stars but the purchase was a big disappointment for me. The first thing I noticed when I opened the shipping box was the Ouija box was worn along the edges. I was OK with that thinking it was from storage. Then I noticed the edges had light tape around it. I opened the box and the planchette was broken. I immediately returned it within an hour of receiving it. I mentioned to the clerk at Amazon Fresh that the box was clearly worn and the planchette was broken. She didn't respond. Not sure why Amazon would sell a used item. I don't know if I should try another one or just give up. Again, 5 stars for the board. I didn't think I should lower the rating for getting a used one.

I bought my first Ouija board after finding my Law of Attraction Buru, Esther Hicks. Her book 'Ask and It is Given' suddenly fell onto my foot while browsing Dymocks book store at Liverpool Train Station in London. I felt it was a sign I had to read it so I did. I'd read The Secret, but it didn't answer all my questions. Esther's book did and she has been my Guru since. She said there was nothing wrong with the Ouija board. She and her husband had found that the spirits on them were just as dumb or intelligent as people! Read the instructions and if the planchette starts going crazy or it starts to spell out the name 'Zozo' take the planchette to 'Goodbye' and put the board away for that session.

Me ha gustado mucho, para la gente que nos gusta el terror es una maravilla, el tamaño está bien y se ve resistente, creo que durará. Lo único que no viene con instrucciones jajaja, tendré que descargarme las por internet o algo. Estoy muy contenta!
