Hi, is this really only 5cm high? That seems to be so small as to be unusable! (Couldn’t put much salt in it and spoon must be tiny!)

Just measured it... 12cm high, opening is 5cm by 5cm. Spoon is small but large enough, I have used it perfectly well for ages. Bought two so has white pepper in one, salt in the other.

What size is the opening?

Slightly bigger than a £2 coin

How much salt, approx by weight, can this hold ?

Approximately 50g, however, mine started to dissolve after 4 months of storing pink Himalayan salt in it.

Shall I wash it first before using it for the first time?

Yes wash it but make sure it is thoroughly dry before use. Good asset for the kitchen
