Another incredible product from Peak Design
This backpack is incredible, just like most Peak Design products. Every corner is thoughtful and every feature is intentional. I love this as a larger alternative to my sling back and it holds plenty of gear including most days a Nikon Z8 with attached 50mm, 70-200, 35mm, flash, and a fully packed tech pouch. It’s comfortable and so easy to use on the go.

Well Designed Backpack, Small Improvements
The 2nd Version of Peak Design's Everyday Backpack should not be considered a substantial upgrade from the first version. If you have the first version, I would recommend sticking with it as that version is just as good as the newest one - plus you can save yourself some money as they are currently on sale/clearance if you are in the market for a Peak Design Backpack but have a tight budget. The layout remains the same in the newest version and the comfort issue surrounding the straps improved slightly. I wouldn't recommend taking this backpack on extended hikes, but it does work well for typical everyday use; which is what this backpack was design for. I personally use this backpack for work and general day photography use. It works well whether or not you are carrying photo gear. If I do have to carry my camera gear, I know that it can be carried securely in this backpack and be accessed pretty quickly using either the side zippers or the Mag Latch at top. This can be a good bag for street photography. USABILITY/CAPACITY: The backpack can be used for a variety of purposes, including general use. I bought the 30L version and have more than enough space for all of my everyday items (keys, wallet, phone, laptop, etc.). I typically carry MacBook Pro and iPad daily - those devices fit well in the compartment at the back of the pack. In the main compartment, I would store my lunch and an extra sweater if it was needed during the day. On days that I do go out for photo shoots, I can fit my mirrorless camera and 2-3 lenses and my drone along with my MacBook Pro. The top portion of the main compartment can expand with the Mag Latch mechanism if you need more space and can accommodate other bulky items such as a jacket. COMFORT/OTHER BRAND RECOMMENDATIONS: The straps on this bag are not the best I have seen. If you are looking for ultimate comfort, I would recommend checking out Osprey or The North Face. Keep in mind that these other bags will have different organizational systems; you may have to purchase a separate camera cube to store your camera gear safely. LowePro is also another good brand to check out if you are looking to carry a large amount of camera gear for an extended period of time. There is a removable sternum strap that can be used to help with weight distribution. The waist strap has to be purchased separately. This brings me to my next point. ORGANIZATION: This bag is the king of organization in my perspective. You can divide the main compartment using the removable shelves, or you can remove all of the shelves and have one big open space for books or papers. The individual shelves can fold up or down to help you arrange your things appropriately. This also prevents your camera gear from hitting other gear being carried in the backpack. The laptop and tablet area in the back has sleeves to assist with keeping your devices in separate area. The tablet sleeve has a magnet that keeps the sleeve closed. There is a small area towards the top of the laptop/tablet compartment that can be used to store sun glasses or other small items such as Air Pods. OVERALL DESIGN/APPEARANCE: The backpack is very sleek in appearance and follows a minimalistic design with a clean appearance in the front. I like that the fact that the pockets are not stacked in front of each other. With other bags, you will have an admin compartment for small items, but filling that compartment usually causes it to bulge into your main compartment reducing the amount of usable space. This bag has one big open area that you can arrange based on your needs without having to worry about pockets that are stacking on top of each other. The straps have a magnet that keeps them attached to the back panel when they are not in use. I purchased the black version and it looks really good! I have already received a couple compliments from people during my commute; the first question that seems to be asked is, who manufactures that bag (because the logo is not readily visible)? Peak Design does a good job with incorporating their brand into the bag, but not making it obnoxious in the sense that they are trying to turn you into a walking bill board. DURABILITY: This backpack has a lot of durability. From the moment I opened the package, I could tell this backpack will last a long time. The fabric that is used on the outside is very thick and feels like it is resistant to abrasions. The zippers operate very smoothly and are even taped to prevent water from leaking inside if you find yourself in a light rain shower. I would buy a rain cover for more water resistance if you are in an area where downpours happen often. The Mag Latch mechanism for accessing the bag from the top is pretty cool because you can open the bag with one hand. Time will only tell, I will update this review if I find durability issues down the road - I plan on using this backpack for a while. BOTTOMLINE: This backpack is not cheap and would be considered an investment for many. If you value organization and want a backpack that is well designed, this bag meets both of these requirements. At $289, I would say there is value because you will receive a life time warranty from Peak Design if this product fails and you are receiving a product that was designed with quality in mind. This backpack is good for daily use and I would recommend this backpack to others if your budget permits. If you cannot justify spending $300 on a backpack, I would look at other brands from major manufactures who have been in this business for longer than Peak Design. They manufacture bags that are just as usable and are able to offer them a lower price point because of the volume they produce and manufacturing costs. The type of backpack a person needs will always depends on what they will be using it for and what their budget is. Of course this is not a one type fits all kind of situation, so do some research before you decide you want to pull the trigger! Just because a backpack is expensive doesn't mean it will fit everyone's needs perfectly. I hope this review was able to provide you with help on your search for a good backpack. Good luck!

Love the low profile and beautiful design with the little details on this backpack!
I originally ordered the 20L version of this backpack. After a couple of weeks it was too small for my usage. I felt like it was too cramp for me to fit everything inside. I exchanged it for the 30L version and there was a huge difference. The 30L is much more usable for me. It's roomier, and feel like I can hold everything I needed and have space for more. The magnetic latch is really nice and make it easy to access the backpack without much struggle. The zippers on the left and right side is also very well made and felt durable, the zippers can be open both ways on left and right side. The backpack internal layout can be change to however you like and I appreciate that feature very much. I can reorganize things to however i feel like. The biggest plus for me about this backpack is how well thought the designer put into the little details. Every little hidden pockets, and all the location you can use to hook things onto your backpack. The water bottle pocket has a little hole inside for water to drip out of you happen to spill water in there or rain drip down in that area. The material feels really nice and durable, its quite thick and feel like it can take some beating. The laptop compartment is also nice as you can adjust the compart to fit the size of your laptop so that small laptop doesnt fall all the way down in the backpack and you have to reach deep in for it. Overall, the details are well thought out. On to the negative. What I dont like about this backpack is the shoulder strap, they fit well but they dont provide enough comfort and cushion when you load to much stuffs into your backpack. If you're carrying camera and laptop inside the backpack, walking around with this backpack on after a while will put some strain on your shoulder. They should do a major upgrade on the padding for the shoulder straps. The other complaint I is when you open the sides of the backpack to get your camera out, stuffs that you load on the very top compartment can fall out to the sides. So if you put a bunch of tiny things at the top compartment be careful when unzipping the left side and right side of the backpack or else things will come falling out. One of my other complaint has to do with the heat dissipation for your back. After carrying this backpack for a few hours at events, I can feel my back building up a lot of heat (and I dont sweat very much either). I can feel that my back was getting really hot and started to sweat. I find myself having to take my backpack off to let my back cool off pretty frequently. Other than that, I really like this backpack and I hope it will hold up well over the years. Very happy with it so far.

A Fantastic Backpack with One Minor Drawback
I recently purchased the Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 30L, and overall, I am extremely pleased with its performance and durability. It's a remarkable backpack that fulfills its promise of being an everyday companion for all my needs. However, I must deduct a star from my rating due to its limited space for cylindrical items such as pill containers and mini tripods. Let's start with the positives. This backpack is a true workhorse, designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use. The build quality is exceptional, with robust materials and solid construction. The zippers are smooth and reliable, ensuring quick access to my belongings. The weatherproofing features have proven to be effective, providing peace of mind during unexpected downpours. The various compartments and pockets are intelligently organized, making it easy to keep my essentials sorted and accessible. The comfort level of this backpack is outstanding. The shoulder straps are well-padded and adjustable, allowing for a customized fit. The back panel offers excellent ventilation, which prevents excessive sweating during extended wear. The weight distribution is well-balanced, even when carrying heavy loads. The sternum strap and waist belt add an extra layer of stability, particularly when I'm on the move or traveling. Despite all these remarkable features, there is one area where the Everyday Backpack falls short. The inner pockets, while thoughtfully designed, lack sufficient space for cylindrical items. Pill containers and mini tripods, for instance, do not fit comfortably in any of the designated compartments. While I appreciate the backpack's focus on versatility and organization, this limitation restricts its usefulness for photographers, travelers, or anyone who relies on such items. However, it's worth mentioning that the backpack's flexibility allows for workarounds. Utilizing the external attachment points or using the versatile FlexFold dividers can help accommodate these cylindrical items, albeit not as conveniently as dedicated pockets would have allowed. In conclusion, the Peak Design Everyday Backpack V2 30L is an exceptional product, living up to its reputation as a sturdy and reliable companion for everyday use. It boasts outstanding durability, comfort, and organization, making it an ideal choice for most individuals. However, its limited space for cylindrical items, such as pill containers and mini tripods, is a minor drawback that prevents me from giving it a perfect score. Despite this limitation, I highly recommend this backpack to anyone in need of a reliable and stylish companion for their daily adventures.

A really good travel backpack
The bag is really sturdy and the overall quality is pretty good. The same can’t be said for the dividers provided in the bag. The Velcro on one of the divider came off pretty much immediately. I’ve asked for replacement, should see how that goes. I can pack in quite a lot and is a really good option for weekend trips. It even swallowed my reasonably bulky winter jacket. It can fit a MBP16, but fitting any other laptop thicker than that will be tight. The price though on the high end, seeing how well made this backpack is, I hope it’s long lifetime will pay for itself. The lifetime warranty provided by PD is a great deal on this front.

This is not a camera bag; this is a bag that can hold a camera.
I purchased this product to carry an expensive camera setup on an upcoming photography trip. I bought it because: - I need something to protect my investment - I need something that is small enough to be a carry-on for plane travel - I need to be able to fit one mirrorless camera and 3 lenses + batteries, filters, etc - I need side openings to access the camera without putting the bag down - I need to fit a laptop and - I need it to be comfortable and highly portable. Unfortunately, I do not feel that this bag works. Pros: - Stylish - Clever - Small enough to get on a plane as carry-on - Fits a laptop - Feels and looks like quality materials - You can put a camera into it Cons: - The dividers are clever, but frankly ineffective to protect lenses and camera, and do not form enclosed spaces for smaller items. As a result, lenses are not snug in enclosures, they sort of rattle around lose, and there is not enough storage for small things (batteries, filters, camera cleaning stuff, etc) - So many straps, hard to tell how useful they really are. - The tripod sack is ineffective. I have the PeakDesign carbon travel tripod, and it feels awkward in it. - The top compartment (the one that you close with the Maglatch) is not secure enough. - The top compartment, does not really tightly close. Any rain or even drizzle would pose a threat to the equipment. - In general, I do not feel comfortable storing expensive lenses in this thing. I purchased a Lowepro Protactic BP 450 Aw Ii instead, and I am returning this as I have no use for it.

Everything I need in a camera bag
This camera bag is all that and a bag of chips. It’s well thought out, very well made and easy to organize. Even the packaging was impressive. I love the origami dividers, they really help customize and fit more in this bag nice and snug with no worry of anything scratching something else or moving around. I regularly go on mountain trips where I’m either wearing my camera bag for long periods of time hiking and standing, or have it in the car and need to grab a lens or two in record speed to not miss a wildlife shot. This bag will make that even easier with the top access and the two sides. I appreciate the magnetic close features, no more stuff falling out accidentally, plenty of separated spaces for extra batteries, filters, lens cleaner or other accessories. The only thing I don’t love is the texture of the bag. It’s durable and sturdy but a little rough to the touch so might attract more dust. But I bought this for the function and it’ll deliver, so I can live with that and maybe it’ll soften in texture with all the use it’ll see

Loving this as a general travel backpack
I originally got this as a travel camera bag, and it is a great one. However, I started to use the compartments to better organize my general travel items like chargers, a jacket, a switch, etc. It actually works wonders and makes organization a whole lot easiee than travel cubes and pouches! the side of the compartment openings also have inner pockets! I managed to pack a lot of stuff that would normally be a mess in a typical backpack. As for the laptop compartment, I was able to fir a 15” Lenovo T14 and a 14” M1 Macbook Pro AND a Samsung Galaxy S5 tablet. It was a tight fit, but it didn’t bother me all that much while at the airport. To give you an idea of how much i can fit in this thing, here is an example of when I got called into the office. I made 4 compartments (3 sepeeators of course) and use them as such: Bottom compartment was for all my chargers and cables, including 2 6ft phone charging cables, a portable charger from Anker, one 6ft usb c cable, one 10ft usb c cable, and an Anker 736 Nano II charging block with some room to spare Next compartment contained a DT 1770 pro, a 12oz mug in the middle of it, and a Logitech M575 mouse. Next compartment had an Espro P7 18oz french press and a 8oz mug The top compartment contained a Greater Goods 1L gooseneck kettle and its charging base as well as a small jar of coffee grounds The Lenovo laptop was also in the laptop compartment, and the backpack was comfortable to wear. Additionally, the top flap was using the clip second from tne bottom to close up properly. I will say, I am still on the fence about whether or not the backpack is worth the price. I don’t have experience with backpacks in this tier, so (as someone who thought a $50 backpack given to me from work was great) I can’t say anything about how this backpack compares or its competitors at this price point. I just know it has been very useful and I am glad I chose it over the PRVKE. I have not had this long enough to comment on durability (toughness) or reliability (e.g. zippers) yet. Still, I give this backpack 5 stars and will update if anything changes.
