I was expecting the tarantula to be a bit bigger, but i'm not bothered by the size as i bought this as a present. It's still impressive.It was despatched promptly and I am extremely impressed with the way it was packaged as i was worried it would arrive damaged, but it arrived in perfect condition.I freaked a few people out when showing it to them!Yes, there is a strong chemical smell when i opened the package. It smells like varnish (maybe it's where the display box has been varnished). The smell is starting to fade after being out of the packaging. I'm not bothered by the smell.Extremely happy, as will the recipient be too when i give it to her for her Birthday.......Her husband won't be though as he's terrified of spiders!

Exactly as seen in the picture, but does have a strong chemical odour from it so unable to display in my sons room (animal and spider mad)
