Q: If using this as a stand alone router, not forming part of an asus aimesh set-up, approx how much square footage of range could i expect?

Not sure exactly. However mine still achieves full speeds at the bottom of my garden 20 feet away and still full signal. It also penetrates the walls in my house and i have full speeds 1 storey up and 1 room over. It massively out performs any other router I've had previously
