Grave Before Shave™ Head Hunter Beard Balm (Tropical summer aroma) (2 oz.)

My husband loves these products. Great moisturizer. It tames his beard hairs and makes it soft.

Rating updated I've used many of the GBS balms and oils and they are my favorite brand. Great quality, very cool packaging (artwork) and the scents are very pleasant. I bought a tin of Headhunter scent a while back and loved the scent, finished it before the GBS balms that I had bought before so I was looking forward to receiving my new tin. When I received it and opened it up the scent was completely different from the previous one. I still have that tin with a tiny bit left so I compared the scents. Previous tin is very pleasant tropical kind of fruity, reminds you of summer and the beach the new tin is very strong perfume like almost like a very strong airfreshener, not pleasant. Very disappointed since this was my favorite. I've emailed the company and waiting to hear back. I still plan to use the other products but I hope this isn't anon going issue with Headhunter because I miss the original. Follow up: I just received an email response from Wayne Bailey at Fisticuffs saying that that's odd because they haven't changed recipe and has offered to send me a replacement. Great customer service! So I've updated my rating. I've tried others but always come back to Grave Before Shave.

This balm is fantastic, but not so sure about the scent. Reminds me of bar soap more than anything. I don't smell anything even remotely close to "fruit", "beach", or "tropical" as some have described it. Fortunately, I bought the Pine scent when I ordered this as well, and that one I love. As for the balm itself, I had been using the Honest Amish Heavy Duty balm, but I was getting annoyed with the grittiness of it. After it had been in my beard for a couple hours, if I ran my fingers though it, it would leave what felt like a very fine sand residue. VERY weird. Didn't exactly get the feeling like it was moisturizing much of anything. This stuff, on the other hand, is smooth. It's considerably more solid in the can, but once you get it worked into your palm, it's more of a butter and less like sand-infused oil. It is also considerably less greasy. I don't need to wash my hands after I work it into my beard; it just absorbs into my skin, which is exactly what I expect from a conditioner.

I've tried at least a dozen beard oils (I've got a lot of free time) and I have to say this is the best. It adds just enough hold to keep my beard from it's usual frizzy style, which is pretty much the "I just fell face first into a light socket" look. It smells great, very fruit meets beach meets coconut meets woman attractant. My lady loves it and it's the only beard balm I've used where I've woken up and she's hovering over me trying to catch a whiff downwind of the fan. It's not overly greasy by any means. The consistency is awesome, it's not gritty like some beard balms and you don't have to stick your hand in the oven to get it to melt to a usable lather. The 2 ounce jar lasts me about a month and I've got a fairly long (6-7 inch) beard. I wouldn't say I use it sparingly either. Usually I apply at least two dabs the size of the portion in my attached picture. I'm going to start switching to the 4oz containers because I'm not shaving or switching brands anytime soon. It does what it's supposed to do and much more. Buy it. It won't be a mistake. Trust me, I have a beard. If you thought this review was helpful, please click the "helpful" button below. Smells great without overpowering also not greasy like other beard balm

The Bay Rum scent is good but once someone pointed out that it smells like an incense shop, I couldn't get that out of my head. The balm itself has a light to medium hold. I would recommend the product if you like a balm that gives a little bit of a crunch texture to your beard and you like the smell of an incense shop. This product didn't end up being the right fit for me but I could definitely see how others would really enjoy it. I also tried the beard butter in this scent and enjoyed that more in terms of how the product made my beard feel.

This stuff is amazing. It smells tropical and sweet which is nice in the summer months. My beard is very dry after I wash it in the shower. I dry off and right after I do I put this in my beard. It makes it smooth, smell good and it really shines. I always get a lot of compliments on my beard for being full and healthy looking and what I always tell people is it's this balm that makes it that way. It's part of my morning routine and I use it every single day. Oh and my girlfriend loves the smell and how soft it makes my beard. Do yourself and your beard a favor and get some.

I've used a lot of beard balm products, and actually like a lot of them. With that said, this is my favorite smelling balm of all time. It is advertised as a "tropical" blend, but I would simply describe it as supremely refreshing, light, and airy =. The aroma is not too strong at all. I started with the 2oz. tin, but I'll be ordering the 4oz. tin along with the oil to go with it. Do not believe that this is strictly a summer smell. When going out with this on your beard (or your hair!) people will think you simply smell nice and good, that's it, and that's a great thing. Some beard balms and oils have such a strong smell, especially the sweeter ones, that it's just too much. One in particular, which I like but shall not name, simply smells as if I managed to smear a Krispy Kreme doughnut all in my beard, which smells great, but isn't exaclty the type of scent I'm going for. Of course, like all Grave Before Shave balms, this coats the hair well and helps you manage your beard. I give this 5 stars.
