The design works well to engage and disengage the kickdown lever. Construction is generally good but there are potential point of corrosion in that there are parts make of ferrous metal, especially the spring that is the heart of the mechanism. I disassemble the doorstops and put grease on the spring and whatever parts I could reach. Since I'll be using these on outdoor gates, it will help keep them from rusting out but I expect they will have a finite life. Otherwise, for the price they are good.

Now, getting installed was a little tricky for me but I was able to do it! They are able to hold the doors just fine! We have a garage door I wanted held open for when we bring in groceries. But if any windows are open or doors anywhere else on main floor the door slams shut with a lot of force, having this installed has prevented that from happening. It was totally needed to pre drill through the metal door but I went on the small side so the screw would catch and stay and I used lock tight. Then I put one on my bedroom door, I have french doors and when the one is open it will always half close, I pre drilled the wood and this was easy to put on and it works totally well! I used these only for holding doors open, and not for keep a door from opening in case someone tried pushing in my door. So there is that. What I love about these after they were installed is that I use my foot to kick it down into place and then I just step on the lever that went with it and it pops back up! I don't have to get under it and try to prop it up, just push down and it goes! really easy to use when installed! My rating 5 star - I really like this item, really made me go wow you should get this 4 star- I like this item and it is fine, but didn't go wow you need this 3 star- this item is alright but has a few flaws 2 star- quiet a few flaws I would totally go somewhere else 1 star- junk no good don't waste your time.

I really like the look and idea of these, but 2/3 did not work properly. They won’t pop back up when I step on the lever and I can’t figure out why. The one that does work functions flawlessly, a light tap of my foot and it quickly snaps up. The other two work fine to keep their doors open but I liked the gimmick. Update: I ended up giving the two that weren’t cooperating a spray of some silicone lube and that did the trick. Initially they weren’t keeping the doors in place very firmly, but over time they actually are working better than they did at first. I’d say that ears at least one more star, they just needed a little patience. I can relate.

Tried these at our church and a senior center I work at. People don't know how to use them without being taught. If door is backed up against a wall, these doorstops cannot handle the pressure of someone stepping on lever to make them "spring up", so you have to be careful to teach people to put the stop down just short of wall or door stop will be in a bind. They fall apart, pin comes out and cleat comes off, or spring pops out making it unusable after just a few weeks! Or tab breaks from being made of cheap "pot metal" when pushing foot on it. We bought 6 or more of these and installed them on 6 doors and 5 broke within 6 weeks of normal use. Nice idea, to not have to bend over to release a door stop, but very very poor quality.

Bought this door stop to replace a broken door stop without the spring-loaded lever. The broken door stop would not stay up when closing the door preventing the door from closing, and that was a problem since the door needed to close at times for security reasons. This door stop was a much better solution. It had equal or better quality to the broken door stop. The step lever to actuate the spring assist to get the door stop to the up position for the door to close is much easier than releasing the door stop with the toe and manually pushing it up to lock in place. In fact it is so much better that the staff asked me to replace all the doors stops in the ER.

Decent product. not pricey, 2 out of 3 are working ok. 1 broke within about 48 hours of use. Installed on restroom doors at my office. 60 days in and 2 are still working ok. easy to install. thanks.

We've found these just great for our needs. VERY easy to use regardless of shoe/sneaker worn and is SOOOO much easier than bending over all the time. Just ordered a second pack of 3 for the rest of our interior office doors
