Very good for washing rice. Allows a bit of water to be retained, but not so much that you risk over hydrating the rice. Easily drain off the excess without risk of dumping the rice. Easy cleanup afterward as well.

This is really great for rinsing rice. Wish they made a smaller size cuz I only ever make a cup at a time. It holds the water in just long enough to give a good rinse and it drains out the bottom but no rice gets through. Can also set it down inside a pan and fill with water to rinse (to save water). Has a spout for the rice to pour nicely into the rice cooker when done rinsing. Handy.

I loved my first strainer so much (use it almost daily)! I needed one at my son's house and ordered a second this week. It arrived and I noticed immediately that it wasn't as "sturdy" -- thinner plastic. I retrieved my original and compared them, I was right. Though it is the same size, the plastic is thinner and almost see-thru. The strainer area at the top worries me a bit. I strain hot liquids frequently. It will be interesting to see if this thinner version will hold up to my normal use. LOVED the first one though. I gave my first one 5 out of 5 stars and this second one 3.5 out of 5 stars (rounded to 4).

I was taught to wash the rice in the cooking bowl. I didn't want to risk scratching the teflon, so I would wash and drain repeatedly in a container. My new place has quite a bit of mineral content, and I thought that the film left on the sides of my bowl after cooking was natural. When I got this, it took 1 or 2 minutes to wash my rice, the water cleared easily, and the bowl didn't get a leftover film anymore. So it's fast and it cleans the rice well. I cook medium grain, and it does not go through the drain holes, and it doesn't even fill while I'm running water.

We bought this item solely for washing our rice and while it does work, it's not the greatest. The rice doesn't fall through the bottom holes, however it does retain quite a bit of water after washing at the bottom of the strainer. Because of this we then try to pour some of the excess water out of the drain on the side near the top... which has larger holes and therefore you end up losing some of the grains of the rice or they get stuck inside the holes. Side note - this was shipped without any padding in just an amazon bag suitable for clothes. I honestly was shocked it didn't arrive cracked or broken since it's hard plastic; we might've gotten lucky.

This is such a good product in so many ways. All the pros were described already by other reviewers. I will just attach the photos and video. I was really surprised in a good way when I discovered that is an authentic Japanese high quality plastic. The best device for rice washing I've ever had.

Im Nachheinen verstehe ich nicht, warum ich mich jahrelange gequält und mir nicht schon eher eine Reiswaschschüssel gegönnt habe :) Aber nun gut... Gestern angekommen, heute direkt mit heißem Wasser gesäubert und ausprobiert. Zugegeben, die Schüssel ist kleiner als erwartet aber bietet dann doch ordentlich Platz für viele Portionen Reis, was einen Vorteil in der Küche hat, denn sie braucht nicht viel Stauraum und stört mich in meiner kleinen, süßen Küche nicht :) Ich koche oft für meine Familie mit und mache mir sehr oft ein Meal Prep Gericht, vorzugsweise mit Reis (Asiatisch und Indisch), also ist der Platz in der Schüssel total praktisch für solche Anlässe. Auch kleinere Portionen kann man natürlich super waschen. Es ist eine unglaubliche Erleichterung für mich endlich eine Hilfe zu haben um meinen Reis zu waschen. Bislang ist mir dann doch das ein oder andere Reiskorn abhanden gekommen als ich mit einer regulären Schüssel meinen Reis gewaschen habe und das hat mich immer geärgert denn ich schätze Essen sehr und bin nicht verschwenderisch, werfe kaum etwas weg und koche eigentlich immer nur das, was auch gegessen wird. Nun verliere ich beim Waschen kein einziges Reiskorn mehr, es macht mir sogar Spaß meinen Reis zu waschen weil er nun noch gründlicher gereinigt werden kann, habe ich das Gefühl. Manche Reissorten sind nun doch etwas "verschmutzter" und man muss mehrere Waschgänge durchführen bis das Wasser einigermaßen klar ist und mit dieser Schüssel ist das gar kein Problem oder großer Aufwand mehr. Besonders gut gefallen mir die zwei Optionen, dass das Wasser unten hinaus tritt aber auch, dass ich das Wasser seitlich abkippen kann und so den Reis schneller vom überschüssigen Wasser befreien kann. Außerdem wasche ich mit dieser Schüssel auch gerne meine Heidelbeeren, die ich täglich esse und dafür ist es auch eine äußerst einfache und praktische Angelegenheit. Für mich persönlich sollte es ein authentisches Produkt sein und daher habe ich mich für diese japanische Reisschüssel im mittleren Preissegment entschieden, die ich auch jedem ans Herz legen würde, der viel und gerne Reis kocht und diesen dann vorher auch waschen muss / sollte. Ich bin wirklich sehr zufrieden und würde mir wünschen, ich hätte mir dieses Utensil schon viel früher zugelegt. Die Lieferung erfolgte sehr schnell und sicher im Amazon Karton, sodass die Schüssel auch nicht beschädigt wurde. Klare Kaufempfehlung!
