i am very fair skinned and usually i have a problem with light foundations being too dark. can anyone tell me if this is too dark for pale skin?

I am also very fair-skinned (essentially always use the lightest shade in foundation), and I found it too dark. I'd suggest looking at some other options.

Ivory. If you look at the product #s (001 vs 004) the lower the number the lighter the shade. At least that's the conclusion I've come to with using this product.
