love this, very effective but wear sleeves
It takes a lot of product, but this will strip all the paint in 3 days if you tape the sides to keep it damp. Sheets are worth buying to go with it, wax paper "hack" is crap. I spilled some on myself and alkaline burns suck. wear long sleeves even if its warm. Oh and if your get it in your hair, RUN to rinse it off, this will give you a pixy cut you never knew you needed. Also, neutralizing the alkaline burns with lime juice is not a good idea. it neutralizes, but absolutely does extra damage while doing so.

Saving My Historic Home
This stuff is amazing. We are restoring an old 3200 square foot 1800's home, every inch of woodwork was covered in layers of lead paint. We were deperate to keep the original woodwork in the house, but we have young children and the lead has to go! For over a year we've tried countless strippers and tools (infrared heat, steam, you name it) and nothing touched it. We were constantly touching up old paint just to keep the kids safe and It was looking as though it would take years of manual labor to even make a dent in removal. I found this a week ago and gave it a shot. Every layer of paint peeled off beautifully revealing gorgeous wood. I thought it would take at least 36 hours to get through all this paint but for my use 12 is all it needs. The lead paint literally melts under the stripper and paper. It's absolutely amazing. I've been able to finish an entire large bedroom in a week just by doing a few feet at a time. The cleanup process is a bit messy because it takes a lot of water. The paint for me is essentially turning back into a liquid so there is lots of smearing of paint which is frustrating, but I can live with it. Before reading the container we did try it on a built-in that has latex paint over the lead paint, it didn't even touch it. I noticed later that it isn't meant to be used on latex paint. I'll have to order a gallon of the Peel Away 7 just for that built in. I am so relieved that I will be able to restore my historic home.

It works BUT............
Peel away does work but I can tell you its a pain in the butt working with it. Don't you dare get any on your skin or it will burn you right quickly & it hurts! Its a mess to clean up, the liquefied paint runs off & gets on walls you didn't want touched & the amount of washing you have to do after removal especially indoors is ridiculous. So yes it works to remove paint, some spots require another go because the first time it didn't take it all off & be prepared for a major clean up.

Not the same product / different texture and color
Ordered two 5 gallons. Opened the container everything was a mess! In the container Dumond puts a black plastic bowl on top of paste and then places inside the bowl a neutralizer packet and paper for keeping the product wet when applying. It was a MESS! The product was all over the packets and paper. I thought Dumond should be ashamed of how this was packed. BUT it is not Dumond. I found the two gallon elsewhere for half price - no delivery fees. When I opened that container it was perfect! The bowl sat perfectly on top of the paste - no spills - packet and paper had no product on it. Why? Thought shipping but no. It was actually the consistency difference of the product! Comparing the paste from both containers the Amazon container was soupy and messy. It also looked different - it was gray. The product I picked up was a thick paste and almost white. I don't know if the Amazon product is old or was exposed to heat? But it did NOT work as well as the sample I ordered. I thought I didn't apply enough - but now I am thinking the product purchased from Amazon was the culprit. We'll see.... Well...I returned all the product and did not use again. I thought this would help remove paint from floors. Sample bucket- fresh worked well. The soupy version did not and messed up my floors. Think this is best for small applications.. If you do buy fresh buckets (sherwin) and do in small patches. I messed up floor with that last soupy batch. Too much work to do in other rooms. Difficult to remove residue.

best paint remover that I've used
The only product that I have used that has definitely been able to remove 70 year-old paint where the base layer is milk paint.. Does it completely remove all eight layers to the bare wood..NO.. Will this product simultaneously remove the quantity of paint layers that it advertises..NO.. Will this product adhere to the paper along with the loosened paint..NOT VERY WELL.. So why am I pleased.. The product softens the paint just enough that you can take a pressure washer to the surface to get down to the bare wood.. I tried using this product to spot remove splatters and drips on brick.. Oh, it removes the paint alright but it leaves an outer ring which visibility becomes much more of an eye-sore than the original splatter.. Use long-sleeves and gloves or you'll seriously wind up with 2nd to 3rd degree burns.. I know this 1st hand..

This stuff is awesome!!
This stuff is amazing! Messy but amazing!! Husband is 78 and I’m 73. Two contractors gave an estimate of 1250 and 1200 to mud over that thick plaster like skip trowel in my small bath. We moved here 4 years ago and could not do anything about it due to health and financial issues. We still couldn’t afford those contractors. They were going to mud over and remove doors to get all that junk in between walls and door. They would put door back but even told us they would not caulk or prime or paint after the mud. Well I found this stuff on internet and decided to get a test kit from Dumond. Husband said I wasted money and time and had false hopes. But look at the pictures above. It was Peelaway1 that worked the best for me. It didn’t do any damage at all. It peeled away. We bought5 gallons and waiting for the paper that goes with it to seal in the process. I was curious and got the results for me in less than 3 hours. The test kit said to try 3 squares using each different product. Peel away test said with paper provided and the other two patches on top I covered with your paper and below each one I tested product without your paper. Husband is amazed. So am I. So yes we will cover and prepare properly and follow the directions for Peelaway 1 and just PEEL away our ugly texture. It was so thick we could not sand or even put a knife into it. But thank you Peelaway for your test kit and developing this product. Ps. We used the left over samples and even they had an effect on that gap between wall and doors. Can’t wait to use our 5 gal peel away and I know all of it will just peel away as well. RESULTS are the proof. Worked for our situation.

It works
1950 house with layers of paint on the cabinets with one layer of lead. 24 hour wait time. It’s some work to apply and peel but well worth it. I probably could have applied it thicker and had even better results. Still needs touch up after. I did one side of 15 doors and 4 drawers in 3 hours both days and I’m not a professional. Do the pre test to be sure you get the type of Dumond that works best for your project.

Works for any paint
Used this product to help eliminate lead paint in our home. After leaving this product on for 24 to 48 hrs, depending on how many layers of paint there were, we were able to safely get down to the original wood. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to get rid of stubborn, or unsafe, paint. 100% worth the money.
