Big Magnet, Plywood shell, deep deep base!
This subwoofer is built like a tank with a plywood shell. It has a 100oz. magnet which is almost unheard of in a 15" sub. The base is low and powerful but not overwhelming. Some songs just sound natural but some shake the house (try "Bad Guy") You may choose to let the full signal pass to the tops (my choice since I have 12" Mackie Thumps) or you can use a 90 or 120 Hz crossover. Overall very pleased. For those who say it doesn't "hit" hard enough, try this well known fix. Assuming you have your controller cabled straight to the sub, lower the volume on the top speakers a little and raise the volume on the controller. This will put more power into the sub. The difference is night and day.

Good sound… wish it’s not discontinued.
Purchased one and sounded really good with a pair of my Alto PA speakers. Unfortunately, it seems that they may have discontinued or hopefully just out of stock. Wanted to purchase another one so I can pair it with my PA speakers for bigger venues.

Loud Fan Noise
The powered subwoofer seems very solid built. But the humming sound is noticeably loud when plugged in, probably from the fan unit. Not sure if that is a design flaw or just a defective component that came with the subwoofer I bought. Hope Sound Town can help shed some light on this issue.

Great sound. Long life.
I bought two 18" Sound Town powered subwoofer speakers. I had them for about 4 or 5 years and I haven't had any problems with them. I just order the 12" powered sub. I'm sure it will do just as well for what I need it for. Thanks Sound Town!!

Works well but requires a hi-pass filter.
When I bought this sub, I assumed (making and ass our of U and ME) that it had a crossover, but it does not. It only has a low pass filter, meaning that the "through" outputs also send sub bass to the top speakers. I gnashed and wailed for a bit, and then I simply built a passive high pass filter using two .22uF caps and a 100w resistors per side, and it seems to be working quite well. Therefore, the sub is doing what it should, so I can't fault it except to say I should have ensured it had a crossover before I bought it, and it wasn't all that clear in the ad. Thus 4 stars, not 5

Wanted to add a little oomph at events. And this little guy is perfect! Not overpowering, a nice suttle addition.

Je l'utilise pour la musique. La qualité de son est très bonne en tenant compte que c'est 1400 watts. Pour plus de puissance, on doit passer par une console amplifiée. Je l'aime bien!

My excitement turned into disappointment. The reason I returned the unit because there was a static noise or electrical distortion. It was so annoying. (It’ll heard when standby mode, or in the situation that no signal coming from the Receiver.) I am more dismayed when they charged me the return shipping fee of more than CA$180+.🥲
