A while ago I ordered a smoking gun so that I could smoke different things like cocktails or smaller food portions without having to fire up my smoker. The smoking gun worked very well but it was always a pain to keep the smoke contained because I would have to run the hose under a bowl which would leave a gap for the smoke to come out and smell up the house. I finally decided to get a dome cover and I'm glad that I did. This dome cover has a seal around the bottom edge to keep the smoke contained and has an opening with rubber flaps for you to put the smoke gun hose through without compromising the seal. Makes the process so much easier and when I'm done smoking whatever it is that I have under the dome, I take the whole assembly to a window or outside to let the smoke out without having worry about a smoky smell in the house. I chose this particular dome cover because its from the same company I bought my smoking gun from and figured they would work well together. Before purchasing though, I read through the reviews and saw that people had issues with discoloration or the dome looking used. There is a plastic film on both the inside AND outside. Before you use the dome cover you need to remove both films and wash it. Once you do that you'll see that the dome cover is in good shape.

The cloche was very easy to use with my cold-smoker. It had a nice capacity for the types of things I like to smoke like cocktails, cured salmon steaks, chees, etc...It also came with a really nice rubber gasket around the base which help enclose the contents after smoking. The gasket worked so well, that during smoking, I'd slip a small toothpick underneath the edge so that the smoke could leave the cold-smoker gun and enter the cloche. I'd then pull the toothpick after smoke had filled it. I had read the reviews that it should not be cleaned in a dishwasher. So I hand-cleaned it in the sink after each use. Then, recently after leaving it unattended on the kitchen counter, my well-meaning wife put it in the dishwasher. It melted down into an unusable shape. It was very unfortunate, since I really liked the product but I will not buy it again since it seems impossible for me to assure that a well-meaning family member won't do this again.

The Cloche Dome arrived in great time and condition but it got even better. I have the Breville BSM600SIL Smoking Gun and recently purchased a Smoking Wood Chips Cocktail Smoker set so I was excited to put the dome to the test. Connecting the gun to the dome was seamless and created a great seal. I had read several posts about people over-smoking their items so I stopped the smoking gun as soon as the dome was filled with smoke. The rubber seal flawlessly retained the smoke until I decided to lift the dome...which was after about 5 minutes. Now this isn't going to give you the same results of placing items in a smoker but the food had a noticeable smoked flavor. I considered that a major win. This purchase has truly opened the possibility of enhancing food, drinks and seasonings at home. I would buy this over and over again and highly recommend its purchase as well.

Just received it today so have not yet used it. Looks well made and will work for me.

I thought I got a trashed because it’s super low quality. I should have read a review before I bought it. I’ll stop ordering from Amazon if they kept selling bad product.

I've been using my battery powered smoke gun for a while now and it's been great, but I realized I needed a better way to infuse the smoke into my culinary creations. I had been using a ziplock bag for a while and while that worked, sometimes if I wasn't careful I'd end up with a bitterness from the smoke that I didn't really like, plus the bag itself would become sticky with smoke and it was near impossible to reuse them. Enter the dome. It had a perfect port, a nice rubber gasket around the edges, and was sturdy enough not to collapse onto my dishes. I've attached a few images of a recent steak where I wanted to add a hint of mesquite to the meat. The dome worked perfectly, even without the small plastic fitting I lost from my smoke gun. As you can see, the acrylic is crystal clear, and I suspect that some of the reviews here forgot to removed the thin plastic that protected the dome during transport because without removing that film, it does indeed look dirty or possibly used. All in all I'm very happy with the dome, and it's really easy to rinse out after smoking something like cheeses.

First of all, I guess I should have read more thoroughly as this did not come with a bottom piece, so for the money really not a good value. Second, the "plastic film" on the produce you're supposed to remove seemed like it was just melted on the produce, so no matter how hard I tried, I could not remove it, so I cannot see through when it's smoking as the film just clouds the entire dome. The smoke did seem to stay in and not seep out when smoking, so I guess that's a good thing.

Extremely overpriced low quality piece of plastic

At first I thought the plastic was all foggy and scratched but it's a protective cover on the i side and outside, once removed it looks nice. Packaging should have been more protective at this price point, it came cracked near the smoker inlet, super glue and the rubber gasket helped keep it in place, be prepared to return yours comes cracked. Unfortunately for me I needed to use it the day it arrived. Knob holder is at the top is difficult to install becuase the screw seems to be the wrong size, used a different screw in fear of getting another cracked.
