Liked the quality and exterior finish on this fitting. Works well for exterior connections such as our bbq propane connection we used.

Sealing stainless steel threaded fittings can be sealed with different techniques than any other pipe material. Successful seals can be made over 90% of the time using a nickel pipe-seal compound (Rectorseal 23631 Pipe Thread Sealant is on Amazon) along with nickel infused PTFE (Teflon) tape (Gasoila SA26 Nickel PTFE Tape Roll is available on Amazon). These fittings have little to no thread taper by design and require special techniques to produce a leak-free seal at the threads. Normal white Teflon tape is not likely to make a decent seal, even with 12 layers of wrapping on the threads. The heavier blue Teflon tape is better but may not seal 50% of the time using 10-layers of wrap. Stainless Steel Pipes have major differences from brass, iron/steel, copper, PVC, and PEX. These stainless-steel fittings are exceptionally strong, likely to last over 50 years ( probably much longer), and resist corrosion from most compounds such as beer, alcohol, and salt water. Stainless Steel threaded joints can “gall” when those threaded joints are tightened – similar to mini-welds. Galling can make removal difficult to impossible while producing permanent slow leaks. Galling is sufficiently common so stainless-steel threaded-pipe manufacturers tend to reduce to eliminate taper of the threads and complaints from customers.
