K-Pax V: The Coming of the Bullocks

I became interested in K-Pax when a friend recommended seeing the movie. From there I read all 5 books in the K-Pax series. The story starts with a psychiatrist whose new patient says he is from the planet K-Pax where there is no war, no fighting, no killing of any animals- what sounds as though it is a wonderful place to be. I don't want to say anything else because if you aren't familiar with the series, you should come into it as I did, not knowing what to expect. The books are very readable- comfortable reading- that I found I was looking forward to each evening when it is my time to sit and read. If you get a chance, you may want to try at least the movie or the first book. I do recommend book 5 because it is a worthy conclusion to the series, and therefore also book 4, and of course the preceding books. I am going to check on other books by Mr. Brewer to see if they have the same comfortable writing style.

Interesting, though maybe a little grim. Takes a hard look at mankind's foibles and problems, with the idea of wondering if we could really evolve if we were forced to. Not all sunshine and flowers, but a decent conclusion to the characters that were developed in the previous books. Thought provoking, maybe a little humbling.

I loved all the other books. This one was difficult until the prologue. If you don’t finish it, it won’t be a good book.

In true Gene Brewer fashion very long chapters, captivating writing, and a surprise ending that I didn't see coming! Sad to see this series finish as it is what turned me on to reading books.

What can I say, the truth always always need to be be simplified to get through peoples understanding of our place on this large living organism we call earth, but no body is listening except the author.

My father loved this book! Gene Brewer's K-Pax series is a story that that really makes the reader question 'are we alone?'.

this is a sort of mimick to the story of Mosses. It is not as good as the first k-pax. Dr B (the character in the book) was a little bit slow on a few things. I wish he would be a bit smart which would probably made more sense. the end of describing his illness well, i just thought it ruins the ending. I like the idea of not killing but then it still doesn't make enough sense. the idea of cycle of lives is not just about not killing, something has to die in order for other things to survive. unless human population is down by A LOT, even as vegan, we take up the land for agriculture and culling of animals because we need to monopolize their habitat would still happens. a bit less deep than the first 2 k-pax books

The fifth of the K-PAX novels, is again a masterpiece. The author tells of the maybe inevitable conclusion of the series. Nevertheless, we are yet again kept wondering till the last what would happen. Just buy it, read it and think about it. The answer to our problems is simple, and vertually impossible? Another paradox?

I found this book really tedious and hard going; I loved the first 3 but these last two are really bad in my opinion... That us, up until the Afterwards of this book. It suddeny validates a lot of it and leaves you wondering a bit more. I wish I knew that history before actually reading it. It would get 1-2 stars if it wasn't for that. Don't let this out you off the first 3 books though.
